May sell off G4 before G5 release to keep its value =/
Still the manual mode capability is one of the best around.
V10 is cool but it's way too large for me.
They need a G5 compact.
LG is still stuck in the mentality that the smaller device has the weaker specs which is pretty sad. The G4 was the first time i used a device exceeding 5 inch screen size and I could really feel the discomfort in 1-handed typing, in reaching for certain buttons in the corner, even just having the device in the pocket...
Actually 1 thing about the manual mode I find... it feels very proprietary, like LG's camera drivers didnt really conform to the Camera2 API very well. I like to keep multiple camera apps installed to be able to leverage their different strengths, and every single 3rd party app...
#1 cannot shoot HDR (not even google camera)
#2 cannot adjust white balance (slider is there but no effect)
#3 cannot record the correct exposure time in the EXIF if you exceed 1 second shutter speed (i think prior to the Dec software update, those 3rd party apps couldnt even set exposures beyond 1s)
at least for me so far those are 'trivial' and those issues dont bother me and if I really need them, can still fall back on stock app.
...I also want to do the trade-G4-for-G5 thing![]()

Q1. can i ask when did you guys purchase G4?
*for those who have mobo failure*
Q2. my friend bought it last july, should he be expecting bad news soon?
Q3. will G4 dual escape from mobo failure? another friend bought this phone v recently
quite excited for g5, hope won't have this kind of issue

For your first qns, i bought mine on 30th May last year. Should belong to the 505 batch...

You can find out the serial number, its on the sticker on the box printed together with the IMEI. A similar sticker should be found stuck on the inside of the phone (have to remove the battery to see it)
Those where serial number start with 505 are the problem motherboards
They need Trade-505-G4-for-Free-G5![]()

Hi could some kind soul help me verify this. With the phone facing u, using ur index figer position it on the far left side of the middle of the volume down button and click it. Does the phone sometimes not detect that the volume down is depressed. Thanks.

http://www.androidauthority.com/lg-g5-design-diagram-668118/
If this diagram is true, the upcoming G5 may not be more compact than the G4... phone is longer, while the width and thickness shrink by an enormous... 1mm.... shucks was really looking forward to a more compact form factor
still can put inside pocket
The LG G4 measures 148.9 x 76.1 x 6.3-9.8mm while
the G5 is expected to be 149.4 x 73.9 x 8.2mm.
ok leh, seems like taller and less wide fr the dimension provided lehstill can put inside pocket
hope it won't become heavier as v10 is really heavy imo, like iphone 6plus![]()
V10 also can put inside pocket lol
Its just my personal preference that I would rather have a smaller form factor. During my G4's service time in Dec, using the Mi4i as backup reminded me how smaller form factors are really more comfortable. Im not a media consumer on the phone so a smaller screen doesnt bother me too much
About heavy... if they are serious about going metal, heavy is unavoidable....
is can put inside, just looks bulky weird lol
tbh, i don't mind plastic back cover since will put a casing and won't get to see it anymore lol. most people have a case i believe? i will get v heartpain if got scratches huan. or they could release one metal and one plastic back for us to choose, like how they did it for g4 leather or plastic back - android is all about choices yeah~nothing wrong with mine either
Tried as u described with no issues.
Just realised that Activity Logs (under 'About Phone' in the settings) was left on in my device when i got it back from service centre and it contributed to a ton of battery drain for my phone (not sure if its a MM thing but it eats my battery even on idle).
If you use GSM Battery monitor you'll notice it if you see the item "System (logd)" having a unusually high consumption percentage
