Errr... "LG confirmed that earlier attempts to fix the problem were misdiagnoses which led to the wrong parts being replaced. With the problem properly identified, it should be smooth sailing for repairs from here on in."

Does this mean those who got it repaired initially might still get bootloop 2-3 months down the road since the "earlier attempts to fix the problem were misdiagnoses"... by then the warranty already gone how?

Er, wasnt the whole motherboard changed to a new one with a more recent serial number?

If the entire mobo is the 'wrong part', then wont brand new G4 units that have the 512 series mobo also get bootloop?

the best part of the article is "After several months of LG G4 owners complaining of a bootloop issue to no avail", i wonder is the 'to no avail' referring to LG dont want to admit, or the tech journalist cant be bothered to cover the story haha.

For me, my fixed-but-still-on-MM-with-crap-battery-life G4 is probably going to be sold off the moment i lose patience with waiting for a new OTA to fix it, especially since the V20b software has more than just battery issues for me. The SD card thing is already quite dealbreaker

LG Electronics has been made aware of a booting issue with the LG G4 smartphone that has now been identified as resulting from a loose contact between components. Customers who are experiencing booting issues with their LG G4s should contact their local carrier from where the G4 was purchased or a nearby LG Service Center (www.lg.com/common) for repair under full warranty.

I just dropped them an email to ask this very question but if you look at the wording of their response to the media, I would say no.

505 batch here.

I am in the same situation as you... 505 and 4mths warranty left. I am hoping that they would honour based on circumstances as we have never changed mobo before and it being a 505 series.

After warranty we won't have much of an option aside from putting in an appeal with LG, kicking our luck or opening another petition which I doubt, will go far. :spin:

505 batch here.

This is not a safety hazard like the recent Surface Pro power cord issue.

So, whether or not the company's customer service has a 'prevention better than cure' mindset... we'll have to wait for someone to try it at their service centre and report their user experience. imho, if they refuse to fix on account that it "hasnt died yet", I'd probably sell the device in a heartbeat rather than wait for it to die at some sudden moment (and your internal storage data die along with it)

Im actually kind of wondering myself, since MM so bad on my device, if I bring to service centre and say I want to go from v20b to v10f, will they agree to help me downgrade...

I think as long as it's 505 batch, they should honour the repair no matter the if the warranty is still there or not. Just print screen every news about G4 bootloop and throw to them next time when you going for the servicing.

im 99% sure the front desk guy is not the real tech support person

during my own service experience in 23 Dec, i remarked here that the language used by the front desk guy when describing my problem symptoms on the receipt doesnt sound like the kind of wording that a more tech savvy person would use.

And when I collected back the phone and 'test' the front desk person by asking what software changes did they do (as we all know, they'll flash it to MM), she look at the receipt and said that there was 'no mention' of software changes therefore the software was probably untouched.

by the way when they said 7 working days you should like ask them "Are you sure? Wait later motherboard shortage again then how"

yep. thot of asking to speak to a representative who can better answer my enquiries but didnt.
however i did ask if the 7 working days include any parts awaiting time if there is a need to replace the mainboard. he said they have the parts (either hes smoking me or he is aware that they are well stocked in parts to support this issue). if tell me still must wait for parts arrival i will quote him liao.

That's the game plan. Nice guy first than not so nice later, if they play punk but honestly, in Singapore there is not much u can do with existing laws aside from complain and complain. If u go for civil suit, u will end up loosing more $$$.. Worst case scenario, if the above process doesn't work then just take it as experience and boycott LG mobile.

Same here. Phone works like a beast. Except for me having my screen self repaired. Any ideas on some benchmarks to run so we stress test it?
