I wonder how strong is the "magic slot". Does it withstand a bend test? =:p

April release date seems so far.
Only Feb now.

LG should have demoed a 10x zoom camera module.
If that was shown, people would probably be more interested.
Maybe someone can make one.
Zoom is one big lacking feature of phone cams.

no price yet.. hmm

modulars are cool. but i'm still not attracted by the modules they have. Doesn't connect with my needs so far~

Yeah, date seems far.

I noticed there is still a small bezel between the screen and the body.
Small black frame. Hope its really smaller in RL!

wah April... roughly 2 months after announcing. one thing Apple does right is the availability. usually 2-3 weeks can get the phone in stores.

Yea the black bezel around the screen is quite big. It's quite a turn off that I may not buy this phone. :(:(

What the difference between quick charge and type c charging? How come Google didn't include in their Nexus 5x/6p and still can charge at 3A while g5 already have type c port and still got quick charge?

My opinion (currently have G2).

Pros:
- looks comfortable to hold and quite like the understated design
- metal and curvy, not shiny and no fingerprints hopefully
- FM Radio seems to be there
- smaller screen at 5.3"
- narrower than G3 and G4 so easier for me to use single-handed
- like the modular concept as they can add functionality later on
- SD 820 so all the other bells and whistles that it provides

Cons:
- phone is taller than G2, G3, and G4 despite having a display smaller than the G3 and G4 (only 0.1" larger than the G2 yet over 10mm taller), top bezel seems overly large
- 2K display uses more battery and not required IMO
- smaller battery
- app drawer gone?
- icons on home screen seem to have changed to 4 across instead of 5

Not really sure about the G5. Credit to LG for being ambitious and exciting but unless you're definitely going to use the modular bits it may be worth waiting for in-depth reviews to see if they fixed/polished the normal stuff. Look forward to playing with display models!

Lets see what Samsung S7 is like. They seem to have gone the simpler route and made what they currently have better. Rumoured larger battery and I prefer the smaller size.

Also waiting for Sony Z6, Huawei P9, Xiaomi Mi 5, and even the Ulefone Future :)

I'll be buying off-contract so shall see what the price difference is.

Type C is able to support higher current than micro USB. Type-C USB will support USB 3.1 with the top speed of 10Gbps and has much high power output of up to 20V(100W) and 5A.

In the USB 1.0 and 2.0 specs, a standard downstream port is capable of delivering up to 500mA (0.5A); with USB 3.0, it moves up to 900mA (0.9A). The charging downstream and dedicated charging ports provide up to 1500mA (1.5A). USB 3.1 bumps throughput to 10Gbps in what is called SuperSpeed+ mode, bringing it roughly equivalent with first-generation Thunderbolt. It also supports power draw of 1.5A and 3A over the 5V bus.

Unlike conventional USB charging methods, a Quick Charge 2.0 end-to-end solution takes advantage of higher power levels to quickly and effectively charge devices. Quick Charge 2.0 Class A can provide up to 24 watts over a micro USB connector, 36 watts with a Type-C connector, and Class B can reach 60 watts or more.

I was thinking the same when I saw the camera module. Seems excessively large for just some dials and buttons and 1000mAh battery. At that size they could have put a dedicated 3-10x optical zoom lense in there

Just a thought, won't be able to use the modules with cases on! Need to take out of case each time...
