So far any1 experience cam protective glass cracked? Thinking of buying external tempered glass for insurance.

There were some mentions of it occurring on reddit but not widespread enough to be statistically significant IMO

my own device so far is still totally fine

I suspect it's due to the design of the phone where the back is completely flat. There's is no protective raised border around the camera unlike some other phones. This makes it easier to crack the camera glass but if you use a case you should have no issue.

I dont think border will really help much. An impact would crack it either way. Its not like a tiny border can absorb kinetic impact as well as a case

I recall a similar case with huawei nexus 6P and it had some cracking incident also, some people suspect it was like due to expansion/contraction of metal body. Maybe G6 engineering had some issue like that.

Ok thanks. I scare it will burst my data usage. Very happy with the hi fi dac after switching from S7. Camera not as gd though n the casing available in the market is fewer.

You mean you switched off data but 4G icon still appears? This is normal. Even though data is off, voice calls will connect through 4G networks.

I agree camera is not that good as samsung. I think the auto mode and processing needs to be improved but manual mode is quite good if you know how to use it.

Casing can buy online like amazon or qoo10.

The thing is the manual mode is merely a well designed UI held back by camera hardware

The biggest example is the oversharpening processing and artifacting. That problem happens regardless if you shoot auto or manual.

^ ISO 50 8 second exposure. No way in hell should there have still been significant noise in the pic given the sheer length of the exposure, yet there it is in the white bits of the fireworks

Been a good couple of days with the G6. Offloaded it. Audio is excellent, cameras like what ChiaRh has extensively tested and mentioned is ~ good with quirks..

Perhaps the G7 would be better :o

im skeptical about any phones being 'better' in terms of camera

We pretty much hit peak camera at the S7. What came after that was more of the industry choose to care more about dual cam rather than superior single cam.

If you care about camera quality, I think you need to pick up the HTC U11 and try. That phone has a camera that is quite a cut above any other phone I've used, even superior to the S8 and G4 that I previously owned. Any scenario you throw it, it produces great details and I like esp that portraits of ppl look natural, like on iPhone cameras. S8 is on par in terms of landscape shots, but often ruins portraits due to a strange smoothening filter which I detest. I tested pixel 2 also, and I still think u11 has the edge in low light, while pixel is unmatched in daytime scenes.

On a side note, I tested V30 against the G6 in the stall, and v30 is quite a bit better. That was not how I remembered it during v30 launch, where G6 produced better pics. Maybe there was an update that improved the v30 cam

actually i liked the HTC 10 and if HTC has continued along that design language and not pull dumb crap like proprietary USB audio, I might actually be a HTC customer right now. i dont really like the direction the U11 is going and a good camera isnt enough to sway me

for similar reasons i avoided pixel cos no headphone jack no SD card slot is kind of a big downside to me
