Bought a Platinum G6 yesterday. The phone looks and feels great in my hand. I feel the Platinum color is the best one. The free flip case is not as good (or premium) as the one I bought with Note 7, but it fits the G6 well and serve the purpose. I may buy a Spigen case from Qoo10 later.
I've loaded most of my apps into the phone. Overall I'm very satisfactory with it. I stick with the default theme, which is a combination of Google material design and some iOS styles. It's just fine for me. I actually don't like the app drawer in Android. The default charger is quite fast, a full charge from 20% takes just more than 1 hour. Later I'll go outside to use the best part of the G6: wide angle camera.
Comparing to S8, the G6 has some advantages that matter more to me:
- flat screen
- bigger battery
- better main camera setup
- useful camera modes that makes use of the longer screen
- no incomplete Bixby service wasting resource at the background
- 2 years warranty
- look better in men's hand
S8's advantages:
- newer and faster chipset (you may only see it in benchmark)
- OLED screen
- support faster network (which may not come to market before I change my phone)
- better front camera
- better earpieces (I use Bose anyway)
- wireless charge (I never use it)
- more accessories
- look better in girl's hand
