The top and bottom chins are so thick with the P10.

Part of the screens of both S8 and G6 is used for the Home Back buttons, while P10+ has a physical one. The real asset screen usable of G6 is also limited if I see it that way.

CompassOne at sengkang also has display units if anyone is interested to look, I believe the starhub has black and platinum sets

after much deliberation between G6 and P10 Plus I think im going P10 Plus after all. After looking at all the reviews, the G6 still didnt have the battery life improvement that I wanted it to have, coming from my G4. I think if the G6 were more like a 5.2" version of the V20 (including removable battery), that would have swayed me in favour of it.

You're not wrong to say that. However when playing video, browsing pics etc the on-screen buttons will hide. You can also choose to hide the on-screen buttons permanently if you wish to. So that's a moot point.

Yes can choose to hide if one wishes to. I used a HTC buttonless phone so I know. Then again, many videos are in 1920x1080 or 1080p ratio, so the 18:9 screen will have black sides and screen asset wouldn't be maximised if you get the idea. I am not saying G6 is bad or whatever, from a point of having that top and bottom bezel being mimimised, it uses a screen to replace part of it (home button).

Not really worth to recontract with telco even with 25% discount, unless you are on multi line saver or multi service saver.

$62 plan, $398 for phone, total cost with 25% discount for 12 months is $1700 over 2 years.

$30 MySim30 plan, $860 for phone, total cost is $1580 over 2 years.

Both the above does not include caller ID and no data upsize. Note that MySim30 plan for 12 months contract has 6GB data compared to the 4GB of $62 plan. No brained to choose which one unless you have multi line saver or service saver. Even if buy at RRP at $988 it is still cheaper to do MySim. To terminate MySim contract is so much cheaper than the number equipment contract.

I played around with 3 different demo sets at various telcos, none has the option of hiding the homescreen buttons unlike previous LG phones. Ironically, V20 just next to it still has that option of hiding home screen buttons.

Does the actual 64GB local retail set allow us to hide the buttons? All the demo sets I have encountered are 32GB only

Well, having a physical there is just wasting areas and making the phone so big to hold. That's why G6 overall physical form is so much better. Unless there are front firing speakers, there is no point having such thick top and bottom areas making the phone so much taller. This is why P10+ is resulting in looking such like a gigantic phone for a 5.5" screen comparing to G6 5.8.

Take a look at the side by side views of these phones and you will see how ugly and useless the top and bottom bezels of P10+ are
G6 vs P10+

S8 vs P10+

Furthermore, another advantage is that we can rearrange on-screen buttons to their preferences, unlike physical ones.

There are pros and cons to using screen buttons. Having a bigger screen also takes up more battery life. Again, the pros of having lesser bezel are smaller overall size, then again the grip may be an issue for phones like S8.

We need to see things is different perspective than just seeing that small bezel is good. G6 implementation is good overall.

P10+: 1440 x 2560 pixels (~540 ppi pixel density)
G6: 1440 x 2880 pixels (~564 ppi pixel density)
S8: 1440 x 2960 pixels (~570 ppi pixel density)

Battery wise, not going to affect much and I'm not too worry about it.

Guess is all down to personal preferences. To me, having such thick bezels that are not having front firing speakers and just for the sake of keeping physical buttons are simply a waste of available screen estates. To make things worse, whites bezels are so glaring when comes to watching videos. So better not to get thick white bezel phones. I learned my lessons when using iPhones.

Don't forget that the actual App screen size is just 5.5" on G6 after the OSB appears on the bottom of the screen.:s8:

With physical Navigation keys design, you get a true 5.7 App screen. :s8:

That tiny 0.2" does make a lot of differences in term of visual!

That's the disadvantage of OSB verses physical Navigation keys. !

Beauty (OSB) verses Practicality (Physical Navigation keys)! Your choose and preferences! ;)

:)

There are stuff below the bezel. Speakers, 3.5mm analog output and some phones with haptic response.

Ironically, I use only white phones and never black due to finger print magnets. Each to his own preference.

You need to edit/update your post. It's $318 for $62 plan. And it's 25% only for the first 12 months.

Sure

$62 per month, 25% off for 12 months, total cost of plan over 2 years is $1302, add $318 for phone is $1620

$30 per month for MySim30 plan, $720 for 24 months. RRP $988 for phone, total cost is $1708. If buy from reputed shops like Redwhitemobile etc, $860 about there, or total $1580.

Either way the MySim plan is better with 6GB data compared to the 4GB of $62 plan.

I think M1 may grandfather the MySim plans if the competition do not provide more data going forward
