Samsung adaptive fast charging is equivalent to QC2.0 only, definitely charges slower than G6.

Sent from ZTE A2017U using GAGT

Similar speed. The difference is negligible. My point is they difference is too little to be significant. In fact Xiaomi implementation of the Quick Charge is even better.

About 1hr 45 mins for both S8 and G6.

If u want to say because S8 has a smaller battery, then S8 lasted longer than G6.

Anyway, both phones are good in their ways. I prefer the G6

Must you buy with telco? V20 selling about $680 and G6 selling about $830 both at retail stores like redwhitemobile and mobile square.

Maybe buy another high value phone like S8 or S8+ and trade in for G6/V20 if this way saves you more money.

I am assuming u r in M1, $42 plan.

G6 - $598
V20 - $528
S8 - $758
S8+ - $888

Trade in S8 at Redwhitemobile $940 (brand new) and buy the G6 for $825 or V20 at $685. For G6 you pay nett $643 and V20 for $503

Trade in S8+ for $1120 and buy G6 or V20. For G6 nett u pay $593 and V20 $453.

That's true..about 20mins difference in full time charge. QC accesories are more accessible though compared to "turbo" or "super" chargers lol

I am able to get fast charging on my colleague's Note 5 using Xiaomi 10k Pro power bank. Both S8 and G6 uses the same cables and charger. You can see many users of V20 jumped from Note 7 and uses the same cables and chargers for charging.

While Huawei Super Charge and Vivo/OnePlus/Oppo Dash Charge are faster, some of their chips are sent to their adapters so you fine that their adapters are much larger.

Same day resell to shop consider brand new. Make sure you call shop and check if they are taking in the colour, capacity, price and what si accepted as brand new. Last time for RedWhiteMobile, I called and they advised me accordingly. Maybe 2-3 days mint condition still consider new, but now I don't know. You better call and act fast.

an honest opinion

I purchased my G6 on the 14th of april followed by my S8 on the 20th. it was my attempt to get on the hype train to actually pick my preferred phone and selling off the other one. as off today 1st May, after 2.5 weeks of switching between phone.. I finally decide to sell off my S8. and here is my verdict.

Battery life:
Since most of you are quite concern about the battery life, the S8 being on a 10nm processor actually does not give it a edge what so ever over the G6, both phone last exactly a full day with about 20 - 25% at the end of the day. Thought i must add on under light use the G6 usually allow me to carry it to the next day but having the recharge around mid day of day 2. The S8 surprisingly always reaches 35 - 40% even under light usage while the G6 gave me 60% so i never tried using the S8 over 2 days even once throughout my time with them. I am a regular user with estimated 2hrs of social networking and about 30 mins of youtube daily. I had intentionally kept my wifi off during my period of testing.

Compatibility:
Unfortunately for the G6, if you are the kind who loves to change your cover every few months the G6 have very bad availability when it comes to shopping. I had to go thru at least 5 stores before finding one with accessories for the G6 and its generally a lot less popular among every one else. The S8 on the other hand is littered every where.. within days of buying the phone I actually came across a hello kitty jell type case which is surprising given the phone only release less than a week.
The only pain of the S8 is if you are looking to apply tempted glass screen protector u will have a really hard time. because the protector usually will decrease the sensitivity of the S8 and the plastic ones doesnt really protect the screen from impact. Its actually a well known problem since the S7 edge but it was new to me since it was my first curve phone.
all that talk about making the S8 edge reject my palm is just gimmick. It detect my palm while holding the phone 8 out of 10 times. One of the major reason i chose the G6.

the DAC:
I have the admit the DAC does change my listening experience quite a bit regardless of what earpiece or headphone i use. I have tested it on a 20 dollars pair to a 400 dollars headphone. everytime turing on and off the DAC changes the way the music is delivered. but thing to note is the DAC does draw battery like water. 1 hrs of listening draw around 10% which is scary AF.
The S8 quality sounds exactly the same as the G6 with the Hifi DAC turn off. If you are an audiophile the G6 is surely for u.

Gimmick of S8:
The iris scanner doesnt work at all in dark areas, the face recognition is the best unlock method in my opinion. The fingerprint reading placement just suck too much for me to prefer it even though i set it up too. The iris scanner unlock the phone really quickly in good lit area compared to the face recognition. I heard face recognition can be used to unlock your phone with your photo. But I have no top secrets so i don't really mind that. It also is able to detect your face shape even in a dark room so thumbs up for that. I end up using the face recognition as my unlock mode.

Warranty:
The G6 comes with 2 years while the S8 comes with 1. According to LG the 2 years are limited to customer who register the phone online and its only for a limited time. Its not really stated upon purchase so for those who got the phone and is yet to register it.. DO IT NOW!! I change my phone ever year so this doesnt really affect me to picking either one but having 2 years does make the phone easier to sell online. It might not fetch a higher price but its just easier to sell. I think some user can relate.

I may be an old bird that why I just could really get used to the S8 curve screen and the G6 wide lens plus general smoothness does make it a more recommended daily driver. My previous phone is samsung S6. But this time round samsung has work too hard on too much gimmick and shift away from making a phone that works while the G6 just focus a lot on user experience thus giving it a better good feeling while using the G6.
Side to side the S8 only runs ever so slightly faster with about 1 to 2 sec advantage when launching some more performance heavy games, other than that you will never feel any laggish-ness in terms of performance on the G6.
Hopefully i do answer some of the question you guys have and this review made sense to the lot of you.. cheers!!!!!

I registered the warranty through online, it states,
Warranty Information:
Parts 12 months / Labour 12 months
doesn't look like 2 years though... maybe send an email to ask them regarding this.

Great review LetterL brah.
I was thinking about either s8 or G6 too. I already have the G6 and was thinking about getting the s8 and then like you do a comparison and only keep one.

So far I am loving the G6 like you. Battery life was better than expected as previous sexperience with the g5 was bad. The camera and screen are nice plus the widescreen really us useful at times. I am quite interested to try the dynamic super samples screen and better camera on the s8 though

What really cooled my interest of the s8 was the red tint, fingerprint sensor issues and the horrendous cost with only 1 yr warranty. Add to that various challenges and problems popping up on the Sammy thread ( notifications issues, reboot etc) makes it too much of a risk getting the phone. Maybe I will wait longer for the price to drop and the problems to be ironed out but I will probably buy and sell. Will be keeping the G6 for sure :s13:
