Speaking of LG svc centre. It's located just opp my office area, so nothing to worry about. They opened at 8.30am, so I reached there at that time. No queue.

You are lucky to have a favourable coincidence of workplace and service centre of the phone you currently use being 2 places in close proximity

I work at shenton way, and the service centre closes on 6pm on weekdays, compared to samsung whose centre closes 8pm while being located at a mall above a train station serving 3 MRT lines. Its virtually impossible for me to reach the service centre either during lunch break or after my work, without special permission to leave early.

Heck even HTC, whose service centre follows the LG approach of being in a not very friendly location, at least has closing hour at 7pm. And pretty much all the other android brands have their service centres in downtown shopping area, with opening hours that exceed LG.

When you have to run from labrador MRT to the service centre at 5:45pm on a thursday just to make it in time to hand over your phone to them to fix your LCD image retention, the negative customer impression has already begun, before you even sat foot in the building.

Given how nearly everyone these days has smartphones, it is in very high strategic interest of any smartphone brand to have their service centre in an easily accessible place. Otherwise you better pray you make phones so damn good and robust that their failure percentages are negligible

Yup, fair statement. As I said, this is the first time I have been to svc centre for my phone. So I am a noob in this regard.

for product registration, if you use the pull down menu to find g6, only get 12mths
key in the model number to get 24 mths.

I finally got my black g6 yesterday.. I use lg switch apps to cross over fr old phone. So far love it. Haven't got hold of any protection stuff yet..

I realised 1 diff is the brightness. Must stretch until 65% then equal to my s6 50%

Are your LG G6 and Samsung S6 running on the same Android version?

Sometimes Android version also plays a part in the brightness setting.

Because only LG G6 SG model got 2 years warranty. The warranty card is just a generic warranty card for all models.

Yup, amoled is generally brighter and sharper than LCD. I used to set my brightness to less than 5% on my N6P, now I have to set my G6 to 45% brightness.

they will ask for the receipt. IMO the receipt is actually more important than the warranty card cos the date on receipt is the start date of your warranty window.

Yes, of course, for warranty purposes for anything, receipt is important. I always scan all my receipts.

I mentioned that I dropped my G6 at the service centre ytd morning (Tue). I went back there to collect it this morning (Wed) (good thing they're slow and have not done anything to it yet). Then went to the seller office to exchange 1-1 after work (seller only called on Tue 6pm). It seems to be fine so far.

Lucky you to have it opp your office. Im working somewhere tuas South. The only time I have is take half day.

And you requested 1-1 exchange?? how so?

I got my 1-1 exchange from the seller/merchant, not LG. I asked for 1-1 exchange because it was defective from the time I tried to set it up, hence couldn't use it at all, don't even need to talk about 7 days 1-1 exchange. It's kind of DOA scenario, but not really DOA, just defective.

I also got to travel from Alexandra to Sin Ming to exchange for a new unit. However, was not so bad, only around 14.5km, so rode my scooter all the way, reached in 55mins.

Re

Better avoid buying LG phone. Their service center is at a weird location. Both times when I had to sent in G4 for repair, they took almost 2 weeks to fix my phone. It's a real pain in the ass if you do not have a backup phone. Horrible experience..

Guess it really depends on where you stay. For me the service center location is fine. Mine took about a week only. Always good to have a back up phone, I'm using my 4 year old G2 as backup phone. Still works fine.
