Speaking of LG svc centre. It's located just opp my office area, so nothing to worry about. They opened at 8.30am, so I reached there at that time. No queue.
You are lucky to have a favourable coincidence of workplace and service centre of the phone you currently use being 2 places in close proximity
I work at shenton way, and the service centre closes on 6pm on weekdays, compared to samsung whose centre closes 8pm while being located at a mall above a train station serving 3 MRT lines. Its virtually impossible for me to reach the service centre either during lunch break or after my work, without special permission to leave early.
Heck even HTC, whose service centre follows the LG approach of being in a not very friendly location, at least has closing hour at 7pm. And pretty much all the other android brands have their service centres in downtown shopping area, with opening hours that exceed LG.
When you have to run from labrador MRT to the service centre at 5:45pm on a thursday just to make it in time to hand over your phone to them to fix your LCD image retention, the negative customer impression has already begun, before you even sat foot in the building.
Given how nearly everyone these days has smartphones, it is in very high strategic interest of any smartphone brand to have their service centre in an easily accessible place. Otherwise you better pray you make phones so damn good and robust that their failure percentages are negligible
