Yeah, kasia just dropped their price to 830 for all colours.

I think it has a lot to do with LG releasing their phone too close to Samsung's S8 which will be far more popular. No point holding stocks if got no demand.

Great for the rest of us here though :s8:

-------------------------------------------------
Updated for reference:

So far, the street prices I found are:
$830 - Kasia Mobile (Suntec)
$831 - GadgetAffair (Carousell) Platinum only
$840 - V8Mobile (Tampines)
$845 - Mobile Square (Far East Plaza)
$851 - Mobile Hardware (Burlington Square)
$849 - Lazada (Lazada.com)
$856 - Super Mobile (Qoo10.com)
$859 - Gold Medal (Qoo10.com)

SRP: $988

PS: I gonna stop updating when I buy the phone end of this month haha

Look at this video review by juan from pocketnow. He gives a very good explanation of the s8 camera and where it's stands with regards to the competition at the end. S8 is a good mix between point and shoot and pro cams. It won't beat the ip7 and pixel for point and shoot , neither will it beat the pro cams like p10 and v20/g6 but it is the best middle ground camera

S7/S8 wins, no doubt for auto shot, no need to compare. LG phone is a manual phone, not auto. LG auto processing is still not there.

I have watched it and even shared it on S8 thread. So yes, I am totally aware of his S8 stand. And yes, I agree with him.

And the person asked G6 vs S8, not Pixel/fruit or others, hence my answer was S8 auto is still better than G6, since G6 is a manual cam, not auto, even though they have improved their auto processing this time, but still not there yet.

Think G6 has a lot to work on in low light. I also felt their photos tend to be overblown. Hopefully they have some patches in the software department for the low light processing

Not everyone likes Samseng. No matter how good it is, I will not be buying for their ridiculous price.. LOL.

its been like that since the earlier LGs too

You get that a lot as well if youre shooting in a bright place that happens to have some big black coloured objects, like maybe a computer keyboard on a light wood desk. If you even so much as focus on the black object, the metering (which on LG is always spot metering) kicks in and blows up the exposure.

I agree at batboyz comment: auto mode is still very much a samsung core competency. And of course LG has the better manual.

Out of curiosity though, does any G6 owners have auto mode night shots to share (at full res)? Im curious how LG's image signal processing handles the use of a smaller sensor now (1/3"). Bonus appreciation if you can shoot using the google camera app rather than stock app so any 'stock app tricks' dont kick in (on my G4, it cheats at night in auto by forcing HDR even when HDR disabled)

IMO Its less about the price and more the worth of the price.

If there were a hypothetical variant of the S8 that cut costs by having a flat rather than infinity display, no bixby, no $99 AKG earbuds bundle, depending how much cheaper this hypothetical model is, I might actually be ok with considering to buy it

that model actually already kind of exists and it is the LG G6

Hi guys! Owner of the ice platinum here! Phone is decent so far, camera is not bad. Manual is the way to go. I'll post some of my shots with LG G6 in my Instagram, mostly for low light shots. @geeky_iggy

DAC is exceptional, just make sure you mate it with a good pair of earphones.

I'm having Bluetooth stuttering issue when connecting to creative iroar. Hopefully will be fixed in the next OTA (which I'm eagerly waiting for)

coming from owning a edge 7 and note 7, if you want more natural shots,
go with LG G6. The color of samsung is bright and very nice,
but then if you look carefully, it is like fake, not natural. just my opinion. i like to take auto shots whenever i travel and this is my opinion...:)

Not really, G6 auto is over saturated at times and too much processing. I believe same song has changed their auto processing in S8 to be more natural. Having said that, whichever one prefers, either natural/not, is a matter of personal preference.

In fact, with LG, taking manual auto is better than just auto, if you don't know.

Mine exhibit slightly oversaturated color during my test photoshoot yesterday though.

One thing for sure, it's much more natural than the Google Pixel's photo result
