what the?! LG G6 uses eMMC5.1???

Follow the step here to check the manufacturer and model of flash chip used. https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s8/how-to/ufs-2-0-2-1-identify-flash-chip-s8-t3601656

You will see that it's from "Skhynix" with model number H28U74303AMR (shown mine)

Googling this model and company you will see here https://www.skhynix.com/eng/product/nandEMMC.jsp

Although, the current model is not reflected there. Seems safe to say that company distributes eMMC5.1.

That's why it's so slow compare to P10 and S8 who uses UFS (terms of transfer rate).

Again, the truth comparison.

Deym LG!

"H28U74303AMR"
H28 indicates UFS.

Comparing with the other UFS P/N in the databook suggests at least UFS 2.1.

Nice find bro. Can't find this info before, and manufacturer only shows eMMC list before. With closest code is the one G6 have.

But if UFS2.0, kindof weird that it's so slow compare to other manufacturer (400MB/s +).

Well atleast it's clear now that it uses UFS. LG is not a cheat unlike Huawei and Samsung. Trust in LG restored. Lol

It's just sucks that it is not on par with other flagships UFS.

Does anyone find the image quality of the raw file a little off

How off? Off when you view it? What viewer/editor did you use? I noticed it looks different in different viewer/editor. I also noticed some viewers/editors only read it as having 0.8mp.

May i know which one you using?

For the resolution, I think it does not matter whichever viewer/editor you use, since it won't change, but the raw file looks different in different viewer/editor. I have used Google Photos, Adobe Photoshop Express/Lightroom, Snapseed, Quickpic.

Does the LG Mobile Driver auto install for you guys when you plug in the G6 for the first time into the PC?

Fastest way to tell is to enable USB debugging, then when connect to PC for the 1st time, it will ask for that 'allow USB debugging from this computer'.

Somehow the mobile drivers never properly updated for my PC upon first connect. I sensed something amiss when I tried the USB debugging thing and there was no prompt (likewise the adb devices command shows no devices detected).

Furthermore using any USB 3.0 cable to connect phone to PC also doesnt work (USB 2.0 still works hence my initial assumption that drivers were fine). I even initially thought maybe the USB 3.0 cable was defective.

Anyway I resolved the problem through manual install of the latest LG mobile drivers from the website.

i mean categorize photos automatically of what is within the photo

Use Google Photos, can auto categorise based on faces, places, things, etc.

Yup, no issue, auto installed the driver. Just had issue with USB debugging toggle in dev option that it is disabled for weird reason. Had to enable/disable dev option to re-enable the debugging toggle, but after turned on it was disabled (unable to toggle, but toggle setting remain).

Sharing my review of the phone here. Overall, quite like the phone surprisingly. Yes, it's not going to win the Galaxy S8 in most aspects, but it does have a few things going for it. It does all of the basics well at a cheaper price. Also the use of the flat glass is a great move too, so for folks who don't like curved edges, the G6 provides a really nice alternative to the S8.

Other than some minor complaints about the software design (some of which can be tweaked), it's a pretty nice phone to use day to day. The display is good looking, the design of the phone is really nice, feels nicer to hold in hand compared to S8, the performance is decent enough, battery life is better compared to the S8 for me, the camera performs well enough, and has water resistance too.

For the folks who wants to use it as music player, there's the Quad-DAC too. I can hear the difference even on cheap IEMs, but I mostly use bluetooth anyway. Also the fingerprint sensor is not only in a better position, it's more reliable compared to the S8's too.

Overall, a solid effort from LG here. Hopefully They can keep this up on the hardware side of things, but they really need to get better at making software... :s13:

Video review for those who those who are interested.
well made review! LG really need to bush up their software. LG 4.0 App drawer is getting outdated.
