What's weird is that I didn't have such issues when I was using xiaomi Mi Max.

I check redwhitemobile and Kasia. Bought from Kasia, shop price and price at shop the same for the xiaomi Redmi note 4 I bought.

Anyway I'm seriously thinking of buying the LG g6, $630 with 2 year warranty and free flip case (LG promotion).

It will be even more weird if you dont hv more new messages, pics, videos, voice notes, etc after switching from mimax to g6. As the database gets bigger, it will just take longer time to load, which attributes to the lag you are facing. You can backup pics, videos, etc to sdcard or pc using the file explorer, then delete them from the whatsapp folder
