The free B&O Headphones is not B&O H3!

Hi guys, I just checked with LG Mobile Singapore via Facebook Message.

It has been confirmed that the free B&O Headphones is not B&O H3. It is a customized model.

at some point i wanted to, but keep telling myself wont be so bad so just do with it after getting repaired.
i do not have e physical slips already as they are served as a collection slip when u walk in cust to collect your repaired products but they should have them on their system. sry this post shldnt be in this thread haha. in short,
first: less than a mth usage- lcd faulty
then the legendary boot loop (mobo)
then not long sd card slot (mobo) faulty.

then towards end of wty period,
buzzing sound and display during cam focus (cam replaced on the same day but to found out problem still persisted).
went back another day after backup got mobo replaced.
less than 3weeks problem came back, knowing that the mobo inventory can be quite weak at times, i didnt want to make a wasteful trip so i called up asking if they have stock. was told no so i took my time to send in. 2weeks later, i sent in with persisted fault + network no service issues and half lcd dead.

different design, but then it also casts into doubt whether these 'custom' model lives up to the same performance standard as the H3

then again LG has good experience with bundling high end earphones, like their old quadbeats

i think for any company its likely all the same rules:

1. "Your safety is our concern" = anything that explode, catch fire, etc they will prioritise and expedite. RMA/recall/refund etc

2. "Your inconvenience is not our concern" = antenna gate, S pen get stuck, boot loop, screen burn in, SD Card problem etc. They will fix on a case by case basis but even if your phone had a track record of 10 minor problems that made you have to revisit service centre on 10 occasions they wont do an exchange for a brand new one.

Hmm..

About the points:

1. its not about who does it first but who does it best. The G4 was the first non nexus in 2015 to OTA to marshmallow. And it was horrendous in battery after that.

2. as a person who is into smartphone photography I can appreciate it. The average layman probably can't. Till date LG still has the best manual mode features in photography, but just like how an average layman wont bother to know the difference between PASM on a DSLR, likewise they wont bother with manual.

3. fortunately the average layman can appreciate this. Unlike manual mode controls, a wide lens toggle is very easy to use and market to people

4. if samsung can sell a S7 with inferior headphone output (due to waterproofing) and apple can sell a iPhone with no headphone output, its hard to sell the benefits of audio in a smartphone. HTC tried (boomsound, high quality DAC), and didnt get anywhere significant. Its a shame really that good sound feels like such a niche selling point

5. imo What LG needs more is superior battery life. Every brand out there is beating LG in flagship battery life (except maybe the non-plus iPhone)


I cant remember where i heard it, but some reviewer said that this phone is a content creator's device, people who want that level of fine control and really know how to use it for their vlogging, audio recording, etc.

The reality is, an average consumer will never look at a Samsung S7 and be like "boy i wish this thing could open its shutter longer than 10 seconds so i can shoot better long exposure of the stars at night". Nor will they look at their iphone and be like "how come this stupid thing downsamples all my 32bit audio to 16bit? I paid so much I deserve better!" So you come and dangle the V20 infront of them: "Eh this thing can do up to 30s long exposure, and has a 32 bit DAC", us tech savvy folk can appreciate, will they?

I know no phones are perfect and I know average consumers won't bother to look those features. But this is just my points and opinions. I appreciate your feedback.

Same thoughts here. I don't expect much on battery performance when comes to android no matter with doze or whatsoever. As Long as I can easily swap out for a fully charged battery on the go, that's good enough for me. Even after a year I can easily replace the aged battery and things keep on moving.

Also, I heard from the All About Android podcast that the HQ DAC will actually consume the battery juice. So don't expect good features that are battery friendly.
