Hey, thanks for the review. Can you help me out with 3 questions please?

Question 1) If I use a modem with router setup (which I believe means a ONT + Router setup), then do I need the router to be present for Velop to work?

So in my current setup it is like this:
Modem -> router

I want to check if it is possible to do this:
Modem -> Velop master node -> Velop child node -> Velop child node?

Question 2) I saw some users earlier in the thread doing the following:
Modem -> Asus router -> Velop master -> Velop child -> Velop child

What is the purpose of the Asus router being there? Seems like the Velop master has to be physically linked by Lan to Velop master. If so, it appears to me that the Velop Master is acting as a router also in addition to the Asus router?

Question 3) What is the rule of thumb you use for arranging your velop devices? Someone in the thread mentioned max 1 wall between them (based on drawing an invisible line between the nodes). If so, this is going to be hard to implement in my unit...

Thanks.

Just wanted to respond to my own questions above in case it helps another newbie like me in the future. Called Linksys and these are their answers.

Question 1: No need the router to be present.

Question 2: There is no difference in performance whether the router is there or not.

Question 3: Max 2 walls. After that signal drops rapidly.

For Q2, the Asus router is needed if you are using SingTel ONT. That needs Vlan and Velop does not support vlan.

Thanks, xiaofan. So if I have the M1 Huawei Modem ONT (1Gbps plan or below), then do I still need the Asus router?

Hi,
Anyone using 2 gbps with Velop.
My setup as follows:
Viewqwest router - switch - lan network - mother and a few child velop nodes.

Velop is in bridge mode. IP controlled by viewqwest router. Wireless on viewqwest router disabled.

When I connect 2 cables from the ViewQwest router to the switch To utilise my 2 gbps plan, I notice that my devices will periodically hang for 30-60s and then start working again. This happens every 10-20 mins. When I use only 1 lan cable which would be equivalent to having a 1 gbps plan, everything is fine.

My suspicions are that this is caused by IP conflict or when a device is routing from 1 to the other lan cable. Just a pure guest.

Any solutions to make this work?

Thanks.

Hi, I'm currently on a 3 pack triband with the primary as a router and 2 child in both rooms all doing wireless backhaul. My connection type on the app is currently set as auto dhcp.

Can check for the below setup, do I change the connection type in the app to bridge?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Is the new linksys velop MX5300 good? or is there any better wifi 6 wifi AX mesh?

And one more qns. for the velop whw03 the transmit power region. Is there any different set to different country? law by law should set to Singapore. And which country setting give a higher power transmit power? And i can get a better range right?

What model switch are you using? Does it support link aggregation?

Zen Wi-Fi XT8 ~ cheaper than mx5300 and supports 2.5gbps port, mx5300 only 1gbps and more expensive.

Ok. cos was thinking to reuse my whw03 node to connect to other places and use the MX5300 as the parents and to my computer. then the rest of the old whw03 to the other less demanding devices.
