Looking for Mic recommendation

Thks for that. I did look at the Shure but that was way overpriced for the current me. I would rather buy a decent mic and use software to fix stuff.
I would definitely look at the asus rog carnyx. (it looks nice too XD)

I don't totally disagree with this content creator about the physical knob which is rather clumpsy. as for peak. I have to disagree with him. Btw please note I am not doing sales, just sharing the experience which is different from the content creator.

This is between you and him for PK, but I think I know why because AMDK likes to talk very loud, so the mic peaks easily.

But on a serious note, he is right that lowering the recording volume doesn't significantly lower the gain. That explains why the entire waveform is peaking or easily peaking, even though it's relatively acceptable and does not entirely distort the sound.

The small area or even the entire waveform proves that something is wrong with the Carnyx, and the only reason that this could happen is if it is peaking due to the above flaw. Of course, it isn't going to sound as bad as a $20 microphone, but at $300, it should do better.


Lowering the recording volume or dial on the Carnyx only affects the mic output volume because the audio clipping is everywhere. Regardless of how the recording value is set, it doesn't get much better, which is a fundamentally flawed design. The gain is probably ALWAYS sitting at around 80-100% internally.

Overall, the Carnyx is audible enough and acceptable for regular use. If you give it to me for free, I'll be okay with using it because I'm not that picky although ill probably not buy it because for $300 i think there are better USB mics out there with better quality and software.

Yep once you hear how clean the sound is from a decent mic, the shitty mics really cmi.
I cannot tahan the static sound from other people's mic

I know this feeling cos whenever i go back to hear my own mic in a video, it is so bad. Even me, who usually is quite bad at hearing like sound quality can hear that my own mic is bad

Youtubers are usually very "loud" (or vocal) in their opinions. I normally only took them with a pinch of salt.

Sometimes, nothing beats doing sufficient research, and just paying the 真金白银 to try it out yourself. Online reviews only set you so far. Lesson learnt then just move on.

It is only a PC mic, if anything more one should be looking for studio/professional grade. Mic is only one of the key components.​

Actually, something came up my mind, there is another solution. if using iPhone, it is good for video and conferencing. just need to configure in Windows to link it up and to set audio and mic to irium (which is your iphone) I use https://iriun.com/

PS Off topic. if you have old android or old iphone, don't throw away. can reuse them as webcam.. Smartphone cameras are much better than expensive stand alone webcams. as most smart phone can do 1080p or even at 4k.

Quadcast apparently has more recording sound pattern, hopefully better if it can make it directional to you only
