Looking to build a gaming rig!

Hi guys, thinking of building a new gaming rig for Diablo 3, however I'm not really sure which would be better/good, wonder if you guys could help me out a bit and provide me with some 'up to standard' setup. My budget is around $1.2 - $1.3k including monitor and casing. Would prefer Intel processor too.

If you use the HWZ search engine, there are quite a lot of Diablo 3 rig requests with budgets similar to yours. What you can do is pick one setup and from there we can help to fine tune.

Was wondering if this is a good setup.. Anyway, I'm not looking to OC my rig too. Was wondering if this setup could be fine tuned a little more, plus or minus. Was thinking of getting the Sapphire HD7850, and 2x 4GB ram too.

i didn't put in a casing or monitor because i'm not sure which would be better, and at the same time, cheap and nice. the wifi link adapter is optional, since my modem is just right beside my table, but i guess it would be better to just get it right? and please do inform me if i should add in extra parts (like ssd?) too! looking for budget around $1.2k! willing to hit low $1.3k too.

and oh, chloro told me that for the Sapphire HD7850, would be better if i pay an extra $20 to get the OC version so as for better performance too.

I guess chloro's right about the 7850. I will second his suggestion to get the Sapphire HD 7850 OC 2GB @ $359 but provided u can make room in your budget for it. Else just max-oc a Sapphire 7850 non-oc version to 1050MHz. Performance will not beat a stock-OCed one, but budget wise...

Budget casings, 2 suggestions:
1) Xigmatek Asgard Pro w/window - $79
2) Sharkoon T28 Red/Blue/Green - $89
Both offer in-built USB3.0 ports. Make full use of that since your Gigabyte motherboard supports it. Difference is whether u want the visible 3.5" panel or not. Else, Sharkoon looks aesthetically nicer.

Monitor wise, Asus ML239H is good enough for a 23" monitor. If u want a better monitor, Dell U2312HM is the choice, since you can pivot and adjust height for multi-purpose usage. Unless u crazy enough to up ur budget to get my 27" Philips monitor@$459...

anyway, i've read some threads and many of them suggested getting a SSD. Was wondering, what SSD would be a good and cheap choice? my friend just told me to get a 128GB one.

and for the gpu, i'm thinking of downgrading to a 1gb one instead.. probably Palit GTX 560 1GB OC @ $225? since i'm just mostly gonna play d3, and not bf3 or skyrim. can save me $100+.

Yeah 560 is enough for d3.

SSD you can get Crucial M4 think the price now is $199.

If your modem is beside then just connect cable directly. Why still use wireless?

and i noticed from the PCThemes price list, is the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C 500GB [SATA III] same as the Hitachi 500GB 7200RPM 16MB shown in the price list? the cost there is $102 too. and the column says 'SATA II' if i didn't see wrongly. and i was wondering, would the Seagate 500GB 16MB SATA3 be a better choice? it's just $1 more than the Hitachi one..

and is the SSD an optional component? can cut down on more costs too. because i've got friends saying that the only difference is boot up speed, nothing much. so it wouldnt really affect if i don't have it anyway. any advice? thanks!

u can always try to go pcthemes and ask them if they can match the other store price or not, then u just buy everything from them much easier

hey guys, after considering, i think i'll get an SSD just to install the OS and D3 inside for faster boot up. thinking of just getting the 60/64GB one. would like to know which would be a better choice, thinking of these 2 :

hmm okay.. so actually i can just get any SSD 60GB? even the cheapest one? from Laser Distribution price list, seems like the ADATA S510 SATA3 60GB and the OCZ Agility SATA3 60GB are the cheapest at $115. but not sure if i should just spend a little more to get the Crucial M4 SSD 60GB, since i've read around and Crucial seems trustworthy.
