Hi All,

I recently just upgrade the following parts to my Acer Predator G3620:

MoBo: Asrock B75 Pro3-M

GPU: Palit Gtx 970 Jetstream

PSU: Existing 500W Acer Predator G3620 PSU

After much trouble changing the part for the first time and finally succeed (able to play ultra setting for FC4, ACU, SOM, and other games), there is still one more thing that bugged me...the fan is louder than my previous existing parts.

The fan did seems to spin faster than before thus creating the loud noise. but im not too sure.

Its been 5 days i have tried all the mentioned game in ultra setting and so far so good except the loud fan noise.

Should i be worried about the fan noise? is it signaling something is wrong somewhere? or is it the Asrock MoBo fan setting (i did saw fan setting in the Asrock MoBo):s39:

fan become louder becuz
high setting > high temp
low airflow > high temp

u can go bios set fan profile speed

I think it's pretty normal.. High demand = high power consumption = high heat output = higher temperature = fans work harder to decipate heat and keep the part cool

This Acer OEM PSU, does it uses a 80mm fan at the side? If it does, I am not very suprised that the fan is very loud as small fans tend to be very loud at high RPMs while it keeps the PSU cool. Also, you sure the OEM PSU is a 500W PSU? May wanna read the label to be sure. (The former OEM PSU in my system is a LiteOn 450W PSU.)

Also, when are you going to exchange your HX 600 with the distro? I hoped that you are not intending to use the OEM PSU pernamently and forgot about the HX 600.

it did wrote as 500W 80+ bronze something on the psu. and able to support the GTX 970 as of now.

As for my HX 600, gonna try the paperclip test to see if the psu is indeed spoilt before i exchange it with a new 1.

kinda worried with the loud fan noise after googling the problem..:(

Is the fan from your 970 or from the case fans? The Jetstream fan is not supposed to run until the temp >60+C.

You may need to improve the cooling in your case. I just changed casings after I got my 970 cos previous casing didn't have enough exhaust. Anyway, besides noise (which is very well controlled now thanks to my new Fractal R4), its the heat. My leg area is always damn warm from all the hot air coming out from the casing when I play FC4 :s13:

Just go to the distro. If your PSU has voltage regulation issues, a paperclip test is not going to be able to detect it.

im not sure if thats the one but it sure looks the same...and its 500W..

Not bad, 80+ bronze made by FSP. Didn't know Acer would use quality stuff.

Your casing must have poor airflow. Download HWmonitor and analyse your temp.

At Ultra settings the temps could be high enough to activate the fans. If its spinning at max when you're on the desktop then something could be wrong.. what are your temps like at idle?

distro? will go to tech-dynamic with lazada receipt for exchange as per your suggestion previously.

aside from this, it has nothing related with the new MoBo? or wrong connection to the MoBo? or thermal paste to CPU or CPU Fan? becoz im kinda bad (very bad) at putting the thermal paste (but the game works) :(

the GPU fan is not spinning when im idling on dekstop. it only starts spinning whenever i play the game (or halfway through the game) and still spinning after i quit the game and idle at desktop (it did stop after a while)

I look at the bios and if i remember correctly, the temperature is around 55

Average Singapore idle temp is 40 degree c for average airflow. If your idle temp is more than 50, it means that your casing airflow suck.

GPU needs to cool down itself after intensive gaming has it will still spin for awhile before coming to an idle spinning rate after you quit.

Try downloading HWMonitor for a better view of system temps. Also, can try taking side panel off and see temps when gaming with side panel off.

will try to install HWMonitor tonite and see how it goes. but i dont think the fan loud noise is due to that as once i on the computer, the fan *fast spinning sound* (like really fast spinning) is there throughout.

seriously, after this acer predator G3620 (S$1,500.00 2 years back) "gaming" rig issues (MoBo not compatible with GPU and no secure boot in win7), i wont be buying anything from acer again (rig-wise).

should have join this awesome forum with all you awesome guys to totally build a rig from scratch. Better performance and extreme value-wise
