GPON
Model: HG8240H5 (newer ONT replaced 2 years ago)
Dimensions: 31mm x 166 mm x 113 mm

XGSPON
Model: EN8250Ts-20
Dimensions: 34 mm x 178 mm x 117 mm

I have the newer GPON ONT so the XGSPON ONT is a bit bigger in my case.

Thanks for the info. So Huawei OptiXstar EN8250Ts-20 is the right model number for M1 XGS-PON ONT.

I was searching for HN8250Ts-20 and cannot find any hit in Google search.

If you are willing to top up S$12 and care about Asus FW features and long term FW support, then get the ZenWiFi BT10.

As a single router, I will say Archer BE805 will have better HW spec (much more powerful CPU) and wireless performance (speed and coverage) compare to single unit of Asus ZenWiFi BT10.

But then two units of ZenWiFi BT10 will for sure have better wireless coverage than single unit of Archer BE805, no matter using Ethernet backhaul or wireless backhaul.

Got it. I think Asus safer bet + more future proof with FW updates

And $12 bucks x 24 = $288 seems like a steal

Most of them are not really good buy, better buy from outside. IMHO the only good buy is ZenWiFi BT10.

Basic Routers --> not worth buying, all below S$100 BNIB from Carousell.
• ASUS RT-AX3000P: $122 --> <S$80
• TP-Link Archer AX72: $122 --> <S$80
• TP-Link Archer BE230: $122 --> < S$100

WiFi Mesh (two pack)
• TP-Link Deco XE75: $399 --> not worth buying. Challenger price is at S$429, may be cheaper elsewhere
• TP-Link Deco X50: $322 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6: $333 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi XD6S: $333 --> not worth buying
• Linksys Atlas Pro 6: $393 --> not worth buying
• ASUS ZenWiFi BT10: $504 --> good buy

Performance
• ASUS ROG Rapture GT-AX6000: $383 --> used to be a good buy, now not so much. Better buy China version of Asus RT-BE86U or RT-BE88U.
• TP-Link Archer AX11000: $343 --> not worth buying
• TP-Link Archer BE805: $360 --> price may soon drop below this one.

Gaming
• ASUS TUF Gaming AX5400: $292 --> not worth buying, better buy China version TX-AX6000 (China version of TUF-AX6000) or China version TUF-BE6500.
saw a few lying around in carousel. think is hard to sell unless drop to $800 or below.

I will confirm the XGSPON ONT model number tomorrow and take a side by side photo after installation 🙏.

Last ONT installation only take a few minutes to unplug the old ONT, plug the new one and test the connection speed. I asked the technician he said need to do onsite testing to send to HQ. I think for upgrading to 6Gbps he can do the switching at the server / MDF Room / TER so it will be more convenient (no need to wait at home) if M1 gives consumers the option to replace the ONT and test it ourselves? 🤔

Not sure about M1, but for Starhub the technician appears to have to key in some activation key on site, I do not know why they can't do it remotely.

Indeed Asus ZenWiFI BT10 two-pack may drop price in Carousell soon since more and more M1 people will sell them. I tend to believe it will soon drop to S$720 for two units. Not so sure when it will drop to S$660 and then evetually S$600, maybe towards the end of year 2025. Let's see.

Single unit may be slightly higher than half price of the two-pack. Previously one user in the forum bought one at S$450. But I think it will still get lower to S$400, then to S$360 and evetually at S$300 to S$320 towards the end of the year.

But I usualy overestimate the resale price. So the price could be lower than what I mentioned above.

Yes, the ONT installer called me said he can come early instead of 4 - 6pm and I don't have to be around as long someone is in. He will just replace the ONT and test that's it.

can we also see the rear?

dayum, why must it be White:s22:...
it'll turn Yellow overtime:spin:
Ah, I don't have the pictures for the rear ONT. Sorry.
It will turn yellow overtime. My old Huawei ONT, is now in Yellow. I think it will turn yellow fast due to the heat.
Ok. I shall consider.

Thanks for the suggestions and the detailed information regarding the ONT (y)

like not much of ventilation holes..
my current 1gbps one even the top surface got many holes for heat dissipation..

Take note for the new Huawei ONT, it is smaller.
My ONT has been running for 3 days, and it's running really warm. There is no ventilation holes on the top of the ONT as compared to the old ONT. You need to ensure there is a good ventilation if you are putting in the DB box for new BTOs.

I put my ONT in the IKEA TV Cabinet under my TV. Today, I put a notebook USB cooler fan under the ONT to cool it, otherwise it will be very warm.

Noted with thanks.
When I get mine, think will just leave it on the TV console top, next to the router.

Btw, did they connect the fibre cable using back the same port from the TP or the use the spare one??

Do we need to have a CPU to run as a router ? It is just a router right?
No need CPU to run as router. The router has all the features for WiFi and ethernet lan ports. If you do not have computer that uses LAN, just use it's WiFi will do. It is just a router

i shifted my router from the side of the tv console to inside the console today to make it aesthetically nice. All the while my Asus AX86U are always placed outside beside tv console as it has antennas. But now comes another problem for me is the heat. Temporarily, I placed a fan inside the console to redistribute the heat inside the tv console. I'm intending to get a computer CPU chassis fan kind, from Taobao, to dissipate the heat and push out the heat from the tv console,.

They did not touch my TP at all. The installer just simply plug out the fibre optic cable, power cable and LAN cable and connect it to new ONT. Done
