Looks like M1 is now offering ONR for the 10G plan @ $49.90/mth.

That's $14 cheaper than the ONT plan which comes with ASUS or TPLink router.

Anyone knows if M1 is willing to bridge the ONR? ;)

With ONR
Integrated HomePac 10Gbps
$49.90/mth
24 mths

This plan comes with

  • 24 mths HomePac 10Gbps
  • Ideal for homes where the Fibre Terminal Point (TP) is not enclosed.
  • The ONR provided with this plan also serves as WiFi 6 wireless router.
  • Free registration (worth $61.04)
  • Free ONR Activation for all time slots (worth up to $123.41)
  • Free Home Fixed Voice Service
  • Free 24 mths Mobile Broadband (Bespoke SurfValue)
  • Note: If you plan to move your address by June 2025, we recommend signing up for our 1Gbps or 2.5Gbps plans.

Cost?

Same for Starhub issued Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR with AX6000 function.

Initially Starhub did not give the choice of ONT for the 10Gbps plan. So all users has to go with this ONR. Some of the users managed to bridge the ONR by getting the superadmin password during the installation (eg: by looking at the iPad screen of the hub trooper).

Later they give the choice of ONT or ONR for the 5Gbps plan.

Many users of Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR regretted due to wireless stability issues.

Let's see if the M1 ONR users will regret or not.

Looks like M1 is learning from Starhub to come out with a cheaper 10Gbps plan, but too late and in the wrong direction.

Personally I will recommend against this plan. Better to go with 5Gbps plan with ONT and TP-Link/Asus router.

Many users of Starhub issued Nokia XS-2426X-A ONR regretted due to wireless stability issues. Quite some of them got Starhub to replace the ONR with the ONT later.

Let's see if the M1 ONR users will regret or not. And let's see if M1 will entertain the ONT replacement request or not.

I am pretty sure M1 will not entertain bridging request, but the users may figure out a way to bridge. But what is the point of bridging since wireless will most likely become non functional.

If you are thinking of bridging, better forget about this plan and go with ONT.

Forget about MLO for a while unless you have Mediatek Dimensity 9400 based WiFi 7 android phones.

For 6GHz, you should be able to get >2Gbps easily for WiFi 7 clients with 320MHz channel bandwidth support. Sometimes you may get >3Gbps. My personal record with Archer BE805 is at 3.8Gbps with Intel BE200 WiFi 7 adapter (Acer Swift Go 14 2024 model).

Usually it is not that important already if you can hit > 1Gbps WiFi speed at 3m to 5m distance.

WiFi Client Speed
1) 2x2 AX/AXE/BE 160 MHz 1024 QAM on 5GHz and 6GHz (6GHz is only for Wifi 6E or WiFi 7), up to 2402 Mbps, real world speed is at about 1Gbps to 1.8Gbps.

2) 2x2 AX/AXE/BE 160MHz 4096QAM on 5GHz and 6GHz (6GHz is only for Wifi 6E or WiFi 7), up to 2882Mbps, real world speed is at about 1Gbps to 2 Gbps. (Note: 4096 QAM is non-standard for AX/AXE).

3) 2x2 BE 320MHz 4096QAM, up to 5764Mbps, only for 6GHz band, real world speed is at about 2Gbps to 4 Gbps.

On the other hand, if you are keen to break the records, here you go. :ROFLMAO:

Records in this forum:
https://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/threads/wifi-7-device-speedtest-and-wifi-7-adapters.7048233/

1) With MLO: 4.947Gbps with Archer BE805 + Oppo Find X8 Pro (Dimensity 9400 chipset), by jasonho.

2) Without MLO (6GHz band only) -- 4.240 Gbps, Archer BE805 + Oneplus 13, by kashix.

Also now m1 just released a onr 10gbps plan. 49.90
Wow. Didn't expect M1 to launch ONR. But at $49.90. I just worry moving ahead, they will slowly move into ONR.

Ideal for homes where the Fibre Termination Point (TP) is not enclosed, centrally located, and positioned closer to connected devices to maximize Wi-Fi coverage. e.g. in the living room

Them launching as a seperate plan is a good news. Meaning they will offer ont option as well. I believe from their recent complains with the routers they have decided this path.
