yup. Just trying out what works, use simba data to complement my base plan, save extra cost
Are you able to use the base plan with backup calling overseas ?
Wifi calling appears to be blocked when overseas (at least for Malaysia) even with a valid plan.

Not sure if anyone has experienced running out of roaming data, but M1 Maxx completely cut off my network access overseas until the next plan renewal. Can’t even receive sms since the phone goes into sos mode and can’t connect to any network.

Interesting, wonder if that has to do with no voice roaming capability so data is cut once quota is hit.

How about buying a new plan via the app ?
I was about to say try using wifi calling for receiving SMS but then recall that Maxx blocks wifi calling overseas.

Ain’t gonna pay $6 for an additional 1GB roaming data from Maxx. Bought an esim from Shopee to tide over until next plan renewal.

Will port out of Maxx before my next overseas trip for sure. Can’t receive calls overseas is one thing, cut off from connecting to any network if roaming data gets used up by accident is ridiculous.

I’m on the online $10 plan and immediately purchased the online $12 plan after realising I ran out of roaming data but it doesn’t work since the new plan only takes effect on next renewal date.

That is strange, so that $12 enters a stacking state ? Wonder if the online plans behave differently from the retailer plans ?

There was some mention that upgrading/downgrading should be immediate, but that appears to be not the case here.

In fact the faq says :
"I need more data, talktime and SMS. What should I do?
You can view and purchase the available add-ons via Maxx app > Buy tab. Alternatively, you can also purchase Maxx Retailers Offers at any of the selected M1 Authorised Retailers."

Ideally you will want to time the plans so that the trip is somewhere in between 2 billing cycle, but that might be difficult if that is your primary/only line.

Online exclusive plan, stacks and activates only upon my $10 plan expiry. No way to bring it forward.

That is a pretty bad way to handle it. Not sure if that is the same with the retailer plans.

Eight clearly states that upgrade is immediate.

That's strange, coz twice last month for 2 different numbers, I bought $10 plan from Shopee and each started immediately. The old plan for each was still running and I only realized when it ended, that the new plan's expiry isn't 30 days away but shorter.

It's only when I went back to the Shopee seller's note that I realized I forgot about having to input my intended start date, so they started after order was accepted. Been a while since i last had an active Maxx line.

I guess you could've bought from Shopee and such instead of from the app.
