Is the Thunderbolt external disk a boot disk? I am trying to buy a 2tb ssd with TB housing setup as boot disk.

Maybe consider the refurbished M1 Mac mini instead? Saves you the money for your keyboard and mouse

why they still shipping 8gb in 2023
The ridiculous part is the custom upgrade price they are charging to upgrade the RAM and SSD considering how cheap they are at 2023. No wonder Apple profile margin is so high.

I hoot already and still thought Friday can play new toy. LMAO at the delivery date, around 1 month for the standard config, once you change anything it even longer.

My current MBP is nearly 10 yrs old, although all parts are brand new from display to battery all replaced by Apple back in 2019, it time to get it replace to M2 Pro Mac Mini for another 10 years!

$849 for the new mac mini is very attractive price.
thinking of getting it to replace my very old macbook pro 2014 as i seldom move my laptop around.
mac mini should b more suitable for me.
ssd in the new m2 and m2 pro base models are single nand, half the speed.

I'm also cosidering what to get rn lmao, m1 with 16/512 or m2 with 8/512 or 16/256. all same price. working on a budget so would prefer not to have to get the m2 16/512, although ideal. mainly use for browsing with multiple tabs, low quality 3D games and discord (100+ servers)

As per explain on Reddit, YouTube and mac related website so you based on your work flow and load and choose accordingly, we all understand the pain of BTO custom upgrade as it cost a lot. Apple being Apple .🤷🏻‍♂️

256B is 1x NAND chip (1500MB/s)
512GB is 2x NAND chip (3000MB/s)
1TB and above is 4x, 6x, 8x NAND chip
Total on the board have 8 chip placement slot, one slot is 256GB, so to get the full 6000MB/s must get 1TB and above.

btw what's the difference between buying from apple store online and from retailers like courts? apparently Courts can deliver the m2 in a few days (earliest Feb 4), compared to a month from apple store.

How come courts faster than local Apple Store
I believe SG is a small market, and the demand for Mac Minis historically here hasn't been high to begin with. So they are using the build to order model, get people to order first then ship later on.

As for Courts, they may have sourced their stocks from their parent company Nojima Asia, which I believe could be very limited in quantity.

Courts who wants to buy from them? Service like ****. Unless they give 20% off, else won’t even consider them
