Chrome is notorious for eating up all your RAM

I decided to reboot and run the exact same test again, this time with Safari instead.
Still no improvement. Is anybody else getting these results?

I've updated my original post with more details after playing with my setup for 3 days.

1. Fresh reboot + Avast Security running in background

2. Avast Security + BetterDisplay

3. Avast Security + BetterDisplay + Spotify

4. Avast Security + BetterDisplay + Spotify + Safari (app opened only, no websites opened)

5. Avast Security + BetterDisplay + Spotify + Safari (5 news websites opened)

Hello guys, I'm sort of decided to get back into apple camp after many years as PC parts are getting too expensive and Mac mini seems like a value for money set up for me since I don't do much editing and stuffs. However I'm checking if 16gb ram is good enough to run parallel windows and 3 monitors set up?

16gb ram and at least 512gb storage is the good choice.

For storage, I intend to go with external storage route instead though. Wouldn't be a big problem right ? 512gb upgrade storage upgrade pricing is too hefty though.

I’m using 16gb ram 256gb storage m1 Mac mini. The storage is fine though i wish i would went for 512gb.

Don't you want to go with external instead ? More storage and quicker transfer rate at lower pricing. Or you prefer very clean set up?.?

Yes I prefer to have cleaner setup without wires and external peripherals. My mouse and keyboards are logitech MX and even my monitor is on a mount. So my table can be practical no wire.

Overall first impression is yes very quiet, even during MacOS software update the fan didn’t even spin at all and very responsive. It’s cold to the touch and didn’t even felt any hot air

1TB SSD from blackmagic: Read & Write ~6000 MB/s

2 USB port (AudioEngine A2+ and Logitech Dongle), TB4 port use 1x USB C to USB C to my Dell Monitor and power cable. That all.

Which SSD are you using with?

My alternative solution for a minimalist look...

...mounted the Mac Mini + external SSD + Time Machine + DAC + everything else under the desk!
You know what they say...out of sight, out of mind.
This way I see nothing on my desk except monitor + speakers

I'm also considering getting one as I find myself moving my monitor quite frequently lol.

Hi all. Can I have some recommendations for a 27” monitor that is compatible?

Mainly use for simple office works (email etc). There will not no gaming or videos.

Q1) Is is necessary to get a USB C input such as Dell S2722QC? Any other recommendations for 27” below $500?

Q2) For normal office usage, will the base model be sufficient? Or should I get the 16gb Ram for future proof since not able to upgrade?

Any 4K monitor is not the real "compatible" in Apple sense due to HiDPI scaling on macOS which can be tweak via 3rd party app called BetterDisplay.

Now I using Dell 2K U2719DC with 1 single USB C provided by Dell in box and BetterDisplay. I am waiting to see the price 27" Samsung ViewFinity S9 5K monitor, if less than $1.4K likely will buy.
