$699 student discount need what kind of pass/account to get

Education Eligibility

Those eligible to purchase from the Apple Store for Education Individuals include faculty, staff, students and parents as follows:
https://www.apple.com/sg-edu/shop/o...gibility,Singapore, are eligible to purchase.
Should be just need pass to show for if they check, which they may not.

apple direct will be same everywhere. but authorised retailers, maybe like lazada/shopee etc. may be able to provide cheaper but maybe not immediate

I see. Yeah student price is 2599, but m4 max is a much better chip vs pro. If want go high spec mini might as well go for Mac Studio already
Nah no need M4 Max. M4 Pro can liao. Middle tier. 😅

Since it already comes with 24GB RAM i just need to upgrade SSD to 1 TB. Actually i think the default 512 GB is enough but just worried with AI, Mac OS and also other apps will become significantly larger in size. 😓

Top tier is m4 ultra, double the cores of m4 max. Actually tbh, most people only need the power of base mini m4

Keeping my M2 Pro Mac mini till 2026 or 2027 before upgrading.
IMO M2 to M4 not much difference unless maybe M2 to M4 Ultra but again depends on your usage.

For most of us, even if can afford, a maxed out M4 Ultra Mac Studio will not feel much different to a M4 Mac Mini. Only reason why I’m getting M4 Pro instead of M4 is firstly im moving from Intel Mac and secondly i don’t normally change my computers unless i really need to, unlike my phone which i usually change after every 2-3 years. 😅

So at least the M4 Pro should hopefully last me a while especially since default RAM is 24 GB and I’m bumping the SSD up to 1 TB.

My M1 Mac mini 16gb still performs like a champ but the HDMI port seems to have died. Only can use the thunderbolt port to connect to screen

Got FaceID on Mac yet? I'm finding this the biggest obstacle to switching to Mac/Mini. Ipad + Iphone already have FaceID. Windows have Windows Hello IR face webcam login, even for desktops.

Wondering whether to get a mini 16gb 256gb for $699 under education discount. Will need to find a monitor if I do, anyone using 42in oled tv?

Why only 256gb? Cuz I can just have an external 4tb SSD plug in for less than $500 or 2tb SSD for less than $300. For MacBook, can still justify upgrading apple SSD as it can be inconvenient bringing the external SSD around. But for Mac mini, an external SSD is value for money.

Well if someone is using M1 and has spare cash, I’m sure moving to M4 or M4 Pro will be beneficial especially with AI coming up. But biggest difference obviously is those moving from intel mac.

I using LG 42C3, but maybe you can consider Alienware 3225QF QD OLED.

I used M1 Mac Mini base model for 3 Years + Le. Slow down quite a lot Liao, 16 GB ram + m4 chip would be a decent upgrade. And I got the ability to buy at 699, just thinking whether I should wait back to school next year for free AirPods 4 too.

Actually if you go reformat it should be back to where it is when u first got it for the same apps

cause it’s the same spec so it wouldn’t “slow down” just that the os becomes more cluttered.

Agree, but this one is my work device also not very convenient to do that.
About to purchase a work device, hesitating between 14 and 16 inch M4 pro macbook. Intend to connect to 2x monitors and afraid of throttling on 14 inch, I do prefer the form factor of 14 inch. However, for macbook air, don't think there is a USB c to HDMI 4k120hz adapter in SG, most adapters only have 4k60hz

Also, for my personal mac device, thinking of getting either M4 mac mini or m4 base Macbook pro 14, or wait for Macbook air m4 next year. I wish to connect to my LG 42C3 oled but for Mac mini the peripherals becoming a headache.

Thanks. Any reason why? I saw a YouTube video which the guy returned the Alienware
For me is just to focus on pc gaming on a smaller screen. 42c3 is no slouch either, actually I may keep this setup. The Alienware is very beautiful to my eyes
