1) usually when will apple refresh their MacBook line?
2) the next MacBook update will they remove non-R MacBook?

1) Probably when intel's next gen processors become available (unless Apple suddenly decides to design their own). Online claims June, so Apple will probably refresh their macbooks around mid-June?

2) Who knows. 15" macbook pro may go, but I think they may leave the 13" pro intact. As per their own admission, it is their best selling macbook, after all.

Can I upgrade directly from snow leopard to mountain lion? I have the USB bootable drive of mountain lion.

Or can I do a fresh installation?

Any ways to resolve kernel panic? my Mac always hang with the kernel panic screen asking me to restart. and these days it crashes my bootcamp as well.

What was giving you the issue? Does the kernal panics occur without any peripherals plugged in? Sounds to me it could be a hardware conflict with your OS.

You can do either.
I would suggest a fresh install.

Hi,my MBP is very laggy after using it for about 2 years.It takes me about 10secs just to open up the Internet and everything is just very laggy.Any idea what is the issue because I'm pretty sure its not due to lack of memory space.Unfortunately,my apple care has expired as well.Any advices?Thanks in advance!

Like any operating system, after sometimes, you may have install and uninstall various applications that may have left some startup components in your system. If you are not a IT savy person, my recommendation is reinstall your OS. Also consider defrag your harddisk with tools like iDefrag as your harddisk may have been badly defragmented. As you use more and more of your disk, you will find it getting slower as you use nearer towards the centre of your hard disk. You can consider upgrading to an SSD to give your hardware a new lease of life or consider removing unused data or getting a better hard disk.

Before changing hard disk or adding/removing any hardware, consider re-installation, it may helps.

Did you check you paging to make sure it is not the RAM? Your harddrive also needs to have at least about 10GB of space for swapping.
If not, you can time-machine backup your system, format your harddrive and re-store your time-machine backup. You can also get a faster hard drive, like 7200 rpm, hybrid or SSD ones. I have swapped my MBP's 5400rpm hdd to a 7200 rpm one and it is running great now!

Hi sorry guys,I've just realized what's causing the lagginess in my mbp.When I actually charge it,its back to its usual speed and when i disconnect the cable,it returns to its laggyness.. Im wondering if its due to my laziness to connect my mbp to its AC power when i updated the software 2 days ago. Is there anyway i can solve this problem?Cause it wouldnt be good if i have to connect it to the AC whenever i use it..Thanks!

'Service Battery" Notice & Warranty claim

Hi,

Today my Macbook Air bought in 2012 March (which is still under warranty) showed the 'Service Battery' notice. I'm keen to get it rectified asap, but I'm rather confused as to the procedures I need to adhere to.

Do I just simply head down to any Apple authorised service centre stated in this link?

How would they know my warranty coverage? Or do I have to print out some documents or produce receipt in order for my claim to be valid?

Y'all advices are appreciated, thanks in advance!

I believe that is due to the Energy Saver feature of your MBP. Try selecting 'Higher performance' under System Preferences > Energy Saver. That might be causing the issue.

They will check from the serial number of your macbook air. That was what happened when I took my MBP down. But before you head down:
1. Know the opening hours of the place service provider that you choose.
2. Just to be safe, take a backup of your mac before you give it in.

From what you say, it looks like you have a good case to get your battery replaced! All the best!

That's a good point! Note: This option is only available in some of the MBPs: the ones with the extra graphics chip!

is it true that.. when using a external portable hard disk, it must be formatted to fat32 (limited to single biggest file size 4gb) to be cross used between win and mac platform? thanks
