Nice unit with small form factor..

Definitely will feel slower. Is the hdd user upgradable tho? As I understand the ram isn't.

If you chose the HDD yes, most likely you'll be able to upgrade.
However, if you were to choose the PCIe SSD. There'll not be any aftermarket solutions available.

The ram should be user upgradable. But this needs to be confirmed...

As for the SSD. It should be upgradable if you're getting the HDD version of the mac mini. Since the HDD form factor would be 2.5 inch.

However if you're getting the SSD. It's most likely going to be a Apple's PCIe SSD. I can't confirm this, we'll have to wait for a teardown or something.

Edit : Reading some of the online sources, I think it'll most likely to be a PCIe SSD. It makes no sense for Apple to go back to something slower.

Seem good if hdd is self upgradable. But memory seems Fixed. That is bad news.but will wait for more details. Thanks

Called Nubox, Polaris & Infinity yesterday and none of them can give me a confirmed date of availability so I ordered online.

Yes, according to them their existing inventory is Mac Mini 2012.

The 2012's have better processing power but weaker IGP. Depends on what you intend to use the Mini for.

I got the lowest end one (i.e. 4GB) w/o RAM upgrade as the specs is already overkill for what I'm intending to use it for - HTPC ... video streaming & web surfing only.

Just going to ditch the HDD for an SSD (I've a few spare ones lying around).

What I really like is Haswell's ultra low power consumption which directly translates to lower heat emission.

still deciding on whether to upgrade my late 2009 Mac Mini.

The Thunderbolt and USB3 is a plus.

My current is running on a 120GB SSD.

Yes, the standard ones from Samsung, Crucial or Intel should be plug and play.

Update :
Visited 2 Apple resellers (while running errands) an hour ago and both stores do not have the Mac Mini 2014 and iPad Air 2. No clue when these devices will arrive. Logistically, Apple seemed to have messed up this time round.
