Normally im lazy to fresh install though its recommended but i’ve not done so since dunno how long. Probably more than six years since i seem to remember my current MBP 2018 was migrated lock stock & barrel from my iMac using the migration assistant & TimeMachine back up.

Planning to get new mac mini & will probably just migrate the settings only since my docs, pics & videos are synced to Microsoft OneDrive so i can always download from there though it may take ages. 😅

But yeah probably better in long run especially after my recent installation of Office 365 seems to have fubared how OneDrive syncs to my hard disk. Probably screwed with my previous Office for Mac. 🤬
My mac is used for entertainment purposes only, i dont save anything important on my mac, and even i do, i will transfer to my thumbdrive first before fresh install. for work and saving of documents i still use my windows laptop

Then no issues lah. My mac is the only computer i have for personal use so cant afford for it to be fubared. I never use work laptop for personal use.

“Apple Intelligence will be available with iOS 18, iPadOS 18, and macOS Sequoia 15.1”.

Now is not next month and now is Sequoia 15 not 15.1. 🤪
Hopefully 15.1 won’t be buggy, but since it will be introducing new features, some parts of it will definitely be buggy

:s13: Yah I think they will take some time to polish.

I just enabled on my MacBook Air but haven’t tried. My Air is M2 base model with 8GB ram and 256GB SDD.

I was thinking if Apple Intelligence really fabulous then I will have to upgrade my machine, coz now the base models are 16GB RAM. Will probably also need 512GB hd coz Apple Intelligence has local model processing

I probably only going to use Writing Tools. I don’t know what other features they will release in the future.

if it’s meh, then I won’t need to upgrade loh. Will also disable the AI if meh

I just tried some of the Writing Tools functions on my MacBook Air.

I noticed that if I use any acronyms in my text, it will pull out something from the US context that fits the acronym and insert it into the text. So, if you are going to actually use the rewritten text from Apple Intelligence, it is best to proofread it yourself.

Apple Intelligence "Make Professional" version:

Upon testing the Writing Tools functions on my MacBook Air, I observed that the use of acronyms in text triggers the extraction of relevant information from the US context, resulting in their insertion into the document. Therefore, while the rewritten text generated by Apple Intelligence may be useful, it is advisable to thoroughly proofread it to ensure accuracy.

You can also try this if you have a laptop or desktop:

https://ollama.com/

It's open source AI models that you can download and play with. They will run locally on your computer.

I just found out about it today.

This YouTube video is helpful for installing and using Ollama:
