Macbook Air Screen issue!

MBA (2011)

It seems the screen costing or 1st layer "melted". It has a rough texture on the "melted" surface.

It started as a small patch at the bottom left corner (where the power connector is) & now its "spreading"!

Has anyone have this issue?

It could be the anti reflection coating. Did you use any harsh solution to wipe the screen previously? I am not sure if that layer will "melt" over the course of time, but its possible that some cleaning solution may cause the top layer to deteriorate over prolong usage considering the age of this MacBook Air.

Besides power ports (corrosion?) & changing the battery 4yrs ago.

The magsafe power port is somewhat corroded. It couldn't detect magsafe charging cable frequently & cant charge. So now its like a desktop. i leave the magsafe plugged in.

From side view, i could see the "melted" areas. As above. When touch over the areas, i can feel the slight bump on those areas (like wound scabs)

Direct viewing just some distortion on those "melted areas.

I think this one no choice. Just be careful what you use to wipe the screen next time. Either you continue to use it until it fails, or you can consider giving this back to Apple to recycle and get a new Mac or laptop.

In all honesty, if you can afford an upgrade to their latest MacBook Air with the M1 chip, I think it would be a huge leap in performance and battery life.

If you plan to leave it as a desktop, then just continue using it until it fails you, the screen cover is plastic after all, it will eventually degrade as you have experienced.

You might be able to get a refurbished/scavenged MBA screen cover in sim lim square. Lots of spare parts there.

NO point. Some other parts will come to its end of life soon too.

You might be able to get a refurbished/scavenged MBA screen cover in sim lim square. Lots of spare parts there.

Is there an outer layer of "Screen cover"? I thought its the lcd/led screen.

I have another 2007 Sony Viao laptop with the same issue.

There's no Dead pixel on those parts. Just outer distortion. just like having some water droplets on it.

Yah i think i will just connect a external monitor to use. But direct view is not so bad yet!

ya, for me i did replace it though
now battery gone case liao need to use AC adapter i also never go replace liao.

Polarizing film lifespan is 5-7yrs to failure!

Right, so you could get a replacement cover somewhere in Sim Lim Square from those shops who have replacement parts. What's your next move?
