U probably werent aware i wasnt the one that have dilemma on moving to mac because of "windows based data" - whatever that means.

Those are likely not data files, not that it can't be, just unlikely. They are applications files. More like you should be looking for Mac equivalent of the same software found in Mac OS X platform, or search for alternative software that does the same thing.

Alternatively you can always run Parallels with Windows in it to use those applications that you may take some time to port over.

I agree there r nw many more programs that's available on mac,like office ,utorrent,vlc player etc. For me I too find it being costly. One can either buy from apple education store or get refurbished macs,they r models from last yr n do nt have problems,lk jus as new. Im gg get a refurbished rmbp that has mid ranged specs.

Thanks I think its safer to stick with mbp,though I do appreciate mba's portability!

Then go ahead with MBP. I also chose the MBP back in 2010 and it'll be the same next year!

From 12" G4 Powerbook > 15" MBP (removable battery) > 11" MBA (mid 2011) > 15" RMBP (current)

Actually either MBA maxed out or RMBP will be powerful enough for most tasks these days. Unless you're doing 3D or Video, then the MBP will be a better choice!
