Apple sales say need to reformat external hard disk to fat32, then can run on apple, if not, latest format may not be compatible

NowadYs rally no time to do such things becoz have way too many files to covert

Tuxera NTFS for Mac - Read / Write NTFS from Mac to your USB / External Drive, ~$40 SGD or just search from some friendly ahem* site

My last few macs all refurbished. As good as new, only no original box. Anyway, can always return if not happy

You should max out CPU, RAM and SSD, you don't need a discrete graphic card if you don't play game, the integrated Intel Iris Pro Graphics is sufficient for normal usage and it won't cause overheating and fan noise.

GPU are used in more areas than games. Photoshop, 3d software a, video editing software, parallelism related programming and more.

What specs would you recommend for rmbp in terms of the following:
1. i5 or i7
2. 8GB or 16GB RAM
3. Harddisk wise I know the higher the better. As SSD is costly. Would 512 be sufficient.
4. 13 inch or 15 inch

Thanks.

I looking at rmbp. My usage is read email, surf Internet, word processing, watch video, listen music etc. Will the following specs be sufficient:
1. i5 processor
2. 8GB RAM
3. 512 harddisk
4. 13 inch

I also be getting the AppleCare too. Please advise. Thanks.

More than enough. But personally I recommend u go get the 15". I personally don't find putting your face up front to a 13" screen for word processing make sense. 15" is not enough large compared to my 17" at home :)

You don't even need a RMBP

Curiously to enquire. When do you need a rMBP ? What is rMBP built for ?
Retina is for greater clarity and gd for watching movies? N lighter n better battery life? Or sld we jus stick to the normal mbp that's cheaper?

Are you using iPhone Retina ? or any high resolution Samsung phones or any other smartphones that have screen resolution that is at least 250ppi ? If you are, or in fact to anyone who own these phones, what justify the use of a high resolution display on such small devices ? That all of them are doing extremely important work or they work for NASA ?

Obviously not right ? :) If it is all about functionality, I bet we can use back 80486, why even get the Pentium and above ? Which of the above use cases are not real use cases since 10 years ago era ?

The value of the Retina display is really about the crispiness of the text. You will enjoy it once you really see it by yourself. Don't tell me that a 10pt font used by so many webpages out there and all those clean thin fonts in modern web design trend when viewed on a Retina display so nicely doesn't makes you feel more appreciated when displayed on a high resolution display ?

Don't tell me the batter battery and lighter laptop doesn't attract you and make you wonder why you should let yourself use older technologies when the latest one is not miles away from you.

Hence I'm not use what is rMBP designed for, for NASA scientists ?

Why do you need to ask the obvious ?

There r some who would choose the one with older technology for cost savings. Evident in many western countries.

You seems to be answering your own questions, why do you need to ask something you have already figured out ?

The mba wins on all accounts other than the retina screen - yes it has a SSD.

If money is a concern I would go for the mba (ts has some money issue) unless you plan to do some serious video editing/photo editing work and you need a better gfx card
