The stain gain issue persists even replacement. In my observation, as long as you bring the laptop out of the house be prepared for the anti reflective coating to start peeling.
Here's a short story. My 13" macbook pro retina was bought brand new in December 2013. Once in a while I would clean the screen as after some time it will become dusty. After a while, I noticed that the more you clean the less smooth the screen will become so a logical thought would be that the anti reflective coating is being worn out. Since then I rarely clean my screen. Then, the hinge of screen started to become very stiff and made crackling sound as I adjust the angle of the screen. Sent it for servicing and it was replaced under warranty. However, the replaced screen was significantly dimmer and yellowish so I had it replaced again. All good so far. Months later, stain gate hit my screen and I got it replaced without any questions asked but the replacement screen had a defect as one area of the screen was noticeably brighter than the rest of the screen. Went to replace it again. Months later, my speakers blew and I got the speakers replaced. And then it blew again. 2nd time I got the speaker replaced. Months later, I noticed the screen starting peeling again. Till now and I have yet to replace it as I still need to use it for school.
I baby my laptop quite a bit. Got a hershel sleeve as well as a shaggymax micro fiber cloth to protect the screen (after being a victim of stain gate for the first time). Unfortunately the stain gate problem still persists.
TLDR: replaced screen 4 times and speakers 2 times. I strongly recommend anyone to get applecare. I do love the quality macbook pro retina but to me it just doesn't last. Too bad there isn't an alternative that I like.
