Plan to do the same for mine. The anti-reflective coating wearing off is super annoying. How long does it take to replace the screen? I can live with a few days but not more than a week.

I had the same issue happening to my Late 2013 rMBP a few months back. Took it to A Lab and they replaced the screen with no questions asked.

If your computer is under Apple's warranty then that should be fine bah. Will recommend Apple user to purchase Apple Care. Should you have any problem with the screen, Apple will be able to repair that unless it's very obvious reasons such as wear-and-tear.

Sorry to bump but the issue has now affected my late 2013 model too.

However the problem here is i have a dent on my macbook previously. Will that affect the replacement?

My late 2013 mbp recently encountered this issue and is getting worse each day.

But decided not to change until end of this year after I completed my study.

So I can buy the new mbp, change the screen of the old mbp and sell it away.

didn't realise that the staining was manufacturer fault and tot it was my own carelessness. thks to this thread, brought my 2015 mbp down to A Lab and viola, took them less than two days to replace my screen.mine was under warranty so no fee involved. i also dropped my mbp before but they just replaced the whole screen.

I got a 2 quotes of $680 and $700 from outside vendor to replace my 2012 mbp cracked screen. $800-$1200 from A Lab.To buy the mbp as it is, outside quote me $150-$200. For fun, got a quotation of $700-$800 at Comex for my 2015 good condition mbp. Don't think your idea gonna work coz i had the same idea

The stain gain issue persists even replacement. In my observation, as long as you bring the laptop out of the house be prepared for the anti reflective coating to start peeling.

Here's a short story. My 13" macbook pro retina was bought brand new in December 2013. Once in a while I would clean the screen as after some time it will become dusty. After a while, I noticed that the more you clean the less smooth the screen will become so a logical thought would be that the anti reflective coating is being worn out. Since then I rarely clean my screen. Then, the hinge of screen started to become very stiff and made crackling sound as I adjust the angle of the screen. Sent it for servicing and it was replaced under warranty. However, the replaced screen was significantly dimmer and yellowish so I had it replaced again. All good so far. Months later, stain gate hit my screen and I got it replaced without any questions asked but the replacement screen had a defect as one area of the screen was noticeably brighter than the rest of the screen. Went to replace it again. Months later, my speakers blew and I got the speakers replaced. And then it blew again. 2nd time I got the speaker replaced. Months later, I noticed the screen starting peeling again. Till now and I have yet to replace it as I still need to use it for school.

I baby my laptop quite a bit. Got a hershel sleeve as well as a shaggymax micro fiber cloth to protect the screen (after being a victim of stain gate for the first time). Unfortunately the stain gate problem still persists.

TLDR: replaced screen 4 times and speakers 2 times. I strongly recommend anyone to get applecare. I do love the quality macbook pro retina but to me it just doesn't last. Too bad there isn't an alternative that I like.

Wow! Took Alabs 1-2 days to replace the screen.

They changed the bottom casing for me too due to my original dent on the side. Very thoughtful of them.

I guess the amt paid for APP was kinda justified. This was my first time repairing my Mac! Too bad my APP gonna end on Jan next year!
