i made one pair of JINS specs at tokyo

because of my limited jap

i feel that its hard to communicate to the optician

unlike in korea, where they have chinese speaking optician to speak to you.

I did mine from JINS at Ueno Station there, chinese speaking lady attended to me..

i may be wrong, but the three biggest chain specs store in Japan are
Megane Ichiba > JINS > Zoff
(Owndays too small for these 3 big giants)

they all have their own frame designs and series, Zoff is particularly popular with their trendy frame designs, while Megane Ichiba has probably the widest variety of frame designs and lens selection...

but spectacles is a very personal thing so it won't hurt to go shop at all three

Hey kifo, any recommendations on spectacle shops selling MIJ brands such as Masunaga? The ones I saw in SG cost $600-1000. My current one isn't cheap too, around $700.

Masuga is one of those spectacles maker from a place called Sabae from Fukui prefecture. In recent years, it seems spectacles frames from that area are becoming highly valued for their craft. Megane Ichiba currently has some frames that are made in that area, and I think either JINS or Zoff also has Sabae frames either currently in their line up or had them before.

I have no experience with Sabae frames but I googled and saw there is a Masuga store in Tokyo so you may want to look it up.

hi, like to ask. For Jins, i found there is a outlet at Matsumoto, https://store-jp.jins.com/b/jins/info/20172/. As mine is a possessive glasses, possible to request for the spec to be done at Matsumoto outlet and collect one week later at Toyko outlet?

Thanks

may or may not be useful, but for zoff, the first time I made my specs they could help arrange so that I could collect from another branch but the second time i made my specs they didn't allow it.

Wow... I am very keen to buy specs there now. Thanks for sharing. If really 5000 yen can get 1 I don't mind. My current blue lens specs cracked twice within a year and the rubber frame breaking down. Cost me around $250 at a neighborhood shop.

zoff's frames seems very similar type to owndays, at least for the singapore outlet. was disappointed.

is jins like that too? as in light and flimsy type of frames for the plastic ones.
