so moral of the story is
young working adults should apply for mature estate now
when get older, sell and move further out to non-mature estate
clear loan+get extra cash to retire comfortably?
:s13:

This statement is refer to those SERS people in mature estate. For young couple they have to live within their means as the price in mature estate is not cheap. If they earn a lot than no problem.

take them forever to announce the BTO.
damn fxxxing slow in their process.
likely wanna do everything at one shot then everyone will start to snatch here and there for queue.
always like to cause panic among citizens.

Then the existing mature estate will be more mature.:D

but look at queenstown
although it is a mature estate
over the years, became almost like a ghost town now....

and I have stayed at Bukit Batok for almost 20yrs now
it is still a non-mature estate

who/what determines when an estate becomes matured?

Heard that HDB came out with a new ruling for SERs residents
if they do not like the SERs allocated replacement flats, they can join any BTO starting from this month!
Means more competition for flats with first timers?
5% of flats will be reserved for them.....

very risky, you will foreit option fee, your additional chances reset to zero and no guarantee you will get to choose a flat
meaning if you dont get a good queue number, it will be back to square one

seems like lots of people wanna give up their flats from previous bto;'s

you can, but I think you need to cancel your selected flat before you can do so. It's a big risk, not knowing if you will get a number within quota again.

Why the newer estates are different and will not repeat a Tampines new town phenomenon is that Tampines was planned to be self sufficient.

Tampines has many smaller town sub-centres which are bigger and having more shops to meet daily needs than Seng Kang or Punggol "central".

I feel the newer towns are population dumps. Cramp as many people into each land area, with minimal facilities and shops.
