Game Story

The story of Marvel Heroes is crafted by comic book super scribe Brian Michael Bendis (Ultimate Spider-Man, New Avengers, House of M, Secret Invasion, Avengers vs X-Men and many more). The Cosmic Cube is a device of untold power capable of changing the very fabric of reality at the whim of its possessor. The brilliant but malevolent Dr. Doom has the Cube, and with it he aims to reshape the world in his own image. Determined to succeed where the Cube's previous wielders have failed, Doom has lined up villainous allies to prevent the super-heroes from interfering. Can you unravel Doctor Doom's sinister plan and stop him before it's too late?

Heroes

Black Panther
T'Challa rules the technologically advanced African kingdom of Wakanda. In addition to having peak human physical abilities, his mystical link to the Panther God grants him superhumanly acute senses and allows him to also wear the ceremonial mantle of the Black Panther. Black Panther must balance his duties as a king with his responsibilities as a hero. This tension occasionally strains his standing with his allies in the Avengers, as well as the respect of his own people.

Black Widow
Natasha Romanoff was a young Soviet citizen when her government chose to train her in espionage. During her time in the infamous Red Room Academy, she became the master spy known as the Black Widow. Early in her career, the Black Widow clashed with Iron Man, but her loyalty to her country waned and eventually she switched sides and joined S.H.I.E.L.D. She later joined the Avengers, and has served with distinction on that team many times.

Cable
Hoping to create a powerful mutant he could control, the villainous Mr. Sinister engineered Nathan Summers' birth to Scott (Cyclops) Summers and Madelyne Pryor. But when Nathan became infected with the incurable Techno-Organic Virus, his father sent him into the future for treatment. Nathan lived for decades in the future, becoming a hardened warrior and expert leader. He then returned to the present, vowing to prevent the horrible future he had lived through. He often fights alongside the X-Men, but occasionally works alone or with his own hand-picked teams of mutants.

Captain America
In the early days of World War II, a covert military experiment turned Steve Rogers into America's first super-soldier: Captain America.
During the war, Cap served as a symbol of freedom and America's most effective special operative. In the closing days of the war, Captain America disappeared in an explosion over the North Atlantic and was presumed dead. Decades later, his body was discovered trapped in ice, preserved in a state of suspended animation! Upon his revival, Captain America joined the Avengers and once again took up the heroic battle against evil.

Colossus
Piotr Rasputin grew up on a farm in Russia until Professor Xavier recruited him to join the X-Men. He is a loyal teammate, using his powerful armored form to protect his comrades in battle. His great physical strength conceals his quiet soul as an artist. Piotr has an on-again, off-again romantic relationship with fellow X-Man Kitty Pryde. His sister, Illyana Rasputin, is the mutant sorceress known as Magik.

Cyclops
Professor Charles Xavier rescued young Scott Summers from a life as a homeless young orphan, recruiting him to be the first member of his new team: the X-Men. Xavier trained Summers to use his mutant optic blast, as well as to lead the other X-Men in the field. Scott has endured great hardships during his years with the X-Men, from an ongoing rivalry with the savage Wolverine to the seeming death of his girlfriend Jean Grey. Through it all, however, he has endured as a shining example of heroism and leadership among mutantkind.

Daredevil

When young Matt Murdock saved a blind pedestrian from a crashing truck, a radioactive isotope spilled onto him from the vehicle. The substance blinded Matt, but he soon found that his other senses were amplified to superhuman levels. He also manifested a "radar sense" that allowed him to visualize his surroundings without relying on sight. As he grew up, Matt received training from the ninja master Stick. He later earned a law degree and opened an office with his friend Foggy Nelson, defending those unjustly accused of crimes. By night, he protects his home neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen from criminals and super-villains. Despite living through more personal tragedies than any man should be able to endure, Matt retains an optimistic, heroic outlook on life.

Deadpool
As a test subject in the same Weapon X program that had previously given Wolverine his adamantium claws and skeleton, Wade Wilson received a healing factor that prevented his cancer from killing him. Wade soon escaped the program and became a freelance mercenary using the name Deadpool, working for various criminal organizations. At times he has teamed up with heroes as well, but these attempts at "being a good guy" rarely stick for long. Wade is mentally unstable, though whether this is a normal state or is caused by his constant state of hyper-regeneration is unknown. One side effect of his mental state is the belief that he is not a real person but actually a character in a comic book.

Emma Frost
For most of her life, Emma Frost thought only of her own needs and goals, seeing humanity as inferior to her own mutant race. She used her intelligence, charm, and telepathic powers to accumulate great wealth. Soon she joined the mysterious Hellfire Club, a group secretly dedicated to world domination. For years she helped that group gain the political and economic influence it desired, often clashing with the X-Men. Over time, however, Emma came to see the teaching of young mutants as her true calling. Eventually she allied with Professor Charles Xavier and her former enemies, becoming a full-fledged member of the X-Men and a teacher at the Xavier School.

Hawkeye
Inspired by the exploits of Iron Man, circus archer Clint Barton decided to put on a costume and fight crime as the super-hero Hawkeye. At first he was mistaken as a criminal, but Barton eventually gained the trust of the Avengers and has served on that team with distinction many times. In addition to his pinpoint accuracy, Hawkeye relies on a quiver full of gadget arrows with various high-tech tricks. But even without his arrows, he's a formidable combatant thanks to hours of training with Captain America. His sarcastic wit sometimes rubs allies the wrong way, but Hawkeye remains one of the most loyal and dedicated Avengers in the team's history.

Hulk
Bruce Banner worked as a scientist on the gamma bomb project when he heroically saved a young man from exposure to a nuclear blast. Unfortunately, the exposure to gamma radiation changed Banner's cell structure, causing him to transform into a raging green monster (known as the Hulk) when he became angry. Over the years, the Hulk has acted as hero, villain, or pure destructive force depending on his state of mind. Through it all, Banner continues to search for a cure that would end his deadly rampages.

Human Torch
When teenager Johnny Storm joined his sister on a mission to space in Reed Richards' experimental rocket, he had no idea that the exposure to cosmic rays while airborne would grant him the power to burst into flame. As a founding member of the Fantastic Four, Johnny took the name Human Torch in tribute to a World War II hero of the same name. Johnny retains an adventurous (if sometimes rash) attitude, often to the chagrin of his more serious-minded teammates. He enjoys his superhero celebrity status

Iron Man
During a visit to the Persian Gulf to show off the latest Stark Industries weaponry, Tony Stark was captured by the enemy and forced to build a new super weapon. Instead (with the assistance of renowned physicist and fellow prisoner Ho Yinsen) Stark crafted the first version of his now-famous powered battle armor. He soon escaped captivity, though Yinsen gave his life to buy Stark the few extra moments he needed to activate his armor. Since that day, Stark has lived two lives: one as the playboy industrialist in charge of Stark Industries, and the other as the high-flying golden Avenger known as Iron Man!

Jean Grey
Jean Grey manifested her mutant psychic abilities at an early age, and was subsequently sent to the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters to learn control over her powers. As a founding member of the X-Men, she's spent most of her life as a hero and has the calm confidence of a seasoned pro. When Jean served as an avatar for the Phoenix Force, an immensely powerful entity of death and rebirth, her powers were greatly enhanced. Although she no longer operates on that scale, her telepathic and telekinetic abilities make her a formidable opponent.

Luke Cage
While serving prison time for a crime he didn't commit, former gang member Carl Lucas volunteered for an experiment that gave him enhanced strength and unbreakable skin. He promptly used his new abilities to escape prison, returning to his boyhood streets of Harlem. Rather than returning to crime, he took the name Luke Cage and became a mercenary "hero for hire," using his powers to help anyone who could afford his asking price. Eventually cleared of his criminal charges, Cage has distinguished himself in various superhero groups (including, most recently, the New Avengers), but in the end, he's nobody's man but his own.

Ms. Marvel
When former Air Force pilot Carol Danvers was caught in the explosion of an alien Kree device, her genetic structure was radically reshaped. Boasting powers of flight, super-strength, and energy manipulation, she became the super hero Ms. Marvel. Carol soon joined the Avengers, and despite some personal challenges she has served as a stalwart member of that team several times over the years.

Nova
Sam Alexander is a mysterious young hero who has come into possession of the helmet formerly worn by members of the eradicated cosmic “police force” that was known as the Nova Corps. He is considerably younger than any member of the Corps seen before… and considerably brasher. Powered by his mysterious helmet, this young hero was the first to warn Earth of the coming menace of the deadly Phoenix Force. As the Phoenix threatened the earth during the Avengers Vs. X-Men war, Sam risked his life. He was a surprising key in helping the Avengers defeat the entity that had possessed the mutant leader Cyclops. Impressed by his heroic actions, Thor offered Sam membership in the Avengers, but it remains to be seen whether or not Nova will become the youngest member of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.

Punisher
A picnic in the park turned to tragedy when Frank Castle's family was shot by mobsters. The only survivor of the brutal execution, Castle decided to avenge his family by taking the law into his own hands. Castle's extensive military training and total lack of remorse make him an extremely efficient vigilante. Armed with military-grade weaponry, Castle is prepared to continue his bloody work until every criminal alive has been punished.

Rocket Raccoon
Rocket Raccoon is a space-faring adventurer whose small size and adorable features belie his unparalleled bravery and loyal soul. He hails from the bizarre planet Halfworld, which is occupied by a variety of sentient animals. Rocket uses his brilliant tactical mind, excellent marksmanship, and very large guns against a variety of interstellar threats. He often works with—and sometimes leads—the Guardians of the Galaxy in defense of various endangered worlds. Some of his friends think Rocket might have a touch of OCD, but what raccoon doesn't wash his hands a dozen times a day?

Scarlet Witch
Born to a mutant father, imbued with sorcerous potential by a demon trapped in Wundagore Mountain, and raised by her adoptive gypsy parents, Wanda Maximoff's life was full of intrigue long before she became aware of her powers. The Scarlet Witch began her career fighting the X-Men as a member of her father Magneto's Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. But she became disillusioned with villainy, instead joining the Avengers after several of that team's founding members left. As both a mutant and a sorceress, Wanda's reality-altering powers and devastating hex bolts make her a formidable opponent.

Spider-Man
When he was bitten by a radioactive spider, high-school student Peter Parker gained a suite of powers reminiscent of a spider, including agility, wall-crawling, and the ability to sense danger (his trademark "spider-sense"). When Peter learned that his beloved Uncle Ben had been murdered by a thief that Peter himself had selfishly allowed to escape, he realized that with his new powers also came a new obligation of responsibility to use them for good. Since that day, Spider-Man has fought criminals and super-villains while enduring a constant barrage of negative press, a stream of personal losses, and the occasional crisis of confidence. Somehow he manages to maintain a positive attitude, and rarely lacks for a humorous quip when battling bad guys.

Squirrel Girl
You'd think that young Doreen Green's mutant power was Super-Adorability, but her abilities go far beyond simple cuteness. Her semi-prehensile tail allows her to display amazing feats of agility...well, yeah, that tail IS pretty adorable. How about the empathic bond she shares with squirrels? That's a good power! But, yeah, it's also kind of adorable. Okay! Those enlarged incisors on her pouty little mouth! Those are...awfully, awfully cute. All right, she may be the cutest thing on two feet (and a tail), but she's single-handedly beaten Dr. Doom, Mandarin, M.O.D.O.K and Thanos. THEY thought she was cute, too...until she kicked their butts!

Storm
Over the course of her life, Ororo Monroe has been trained as a juvenile thief, worshiped as a goddess, and hated as a mutant. Since Charles Xavier enlisted her to join the X-Men, Storm has grown as a warrior and as a leader. Her control over the climate has been honed through constant training and numerous battles, and her arsenal of elemental powers, from shattering lightning strikes to freezing winds, make her a force of nature to be feared and respected.

Thing
When Reed Richards finished his experimental starship and wanted to take it on an unsanctioned test flight, his college buddy (and former USAF pilot) Ben Grimm agreed to fly it. Together with Richards' girlfriend Sue Storm and her brother Johnny, Ben and Reed launched into space, where they were exposed to unprecedented levels of cosmic radiation. The radiation triggered mutagenic changes in each of the four passengers. In Grimm's case, he became a brutish creature with orange, rocky skin. Sue's description of him as a "thing" stuck as his heroic nickname, and Thing became a founding member of the Fantastic Four.

Thor
Thor is the Norse god of thunder and the son of Odin All-Father, ruler of Asgard. He wields the mystic hammer Mjolnir, which allows him to fly and fire bolts of lightning. Thor was a founding member of the Avengers and frequently battles as one of their number. At times, Thor has used the secret identity of Donald Blake to walk among mortals, but he always returns to the halls of Asgard to hoist a tankard with his fellow gods.

Wolverine
The man called Logan had already lived a long and violent life when he was kidnapped from his black ops team by a secret government program called Weapon X. In a high-tech lab deep in the Canadian Rockies, scientists bonded the unbreakable metal adamantium to Logan's bones, relying on his mutant healing factor to keep the experiment from killing him. But Logan escaped the Weapon X program, and before too long drew the attention of Professor Charles Xavier, who recruited him to the X-Men as Wolverine. Despite the objections of those who saw him as more trouble than he was worth, Xavier saw Logan's inner nobility. Wolverine constantly fights to keep his savage berserker side in check, but no matter how hard he tries, it's usually just a matter of time before he pops his claws and goes to work.
