anyone know how can we estimate how many of such 'invisible Q' will be there?
does this mean if I got Q# 888, then I might be out regardless the quota? Let say no drop out.

Under MGPS scheme, the quota allocated is 15% of the supply of studio apts. Means for KW, the quota is 270 x 15% = 40 units. So you probably see a max number of 40 pairs of parents and children under this invisible queue. But i doubt the quota for MGPS will be used up, so the invisible queue will probably be much shorter than 40

I don't understand how it is going to work here.

So does it mean at the end of the flat selection for 4 room, the final queue number will not be equal to the total available?

Meaning if total 4-room units is 888, the final queue number might be like 860 whereby 20 queue numbers go to MGPS?

worst worst case, if all studio apartment is under that scheme, does it mean that the actual flats for us is (888-270 = 618)???:(

MGPS stands for Multi-Generation Priority Scheme

emphasis on Priority Scheme, so I guess this is how they give priority.

Sorry i am not too sure about this but i guess it is gonna be this case cos it seems like your queue number is the normal queue number. There is still invisible queue number which you need to cater for.

The worst case is 40. There is no guarantee that it is a Studio with 4rm pair though, it could very well be a Studio with 3rm pair. However all of these people can only select McNair.

yeah.. and we cant be sure that the invisible queue includes only MGPS.. there are still other opaque schemes like the Grassroots scheme which could be in the invisible queue as well..

but bear in mind the pple in the invisible queue under MGPS also receives a normal queue number. So if the MGPS applicants' normal queue number also fall within the 888 units, you also see a "drop-out" for this queue number later in the selection.

Yup, from HDB sales application FAQ:

Q5: How are the married child’s and parents’ applications balloted under the Multi-Generation Priority Scheme (MGPS)?

A5: Each MGPS application will be issued three queue numbers, one under the MGPS and two under the Public Scheme. Under the MGPS, parents and married children will receive one queue number for their combined application. Under the Public Scheme, separate queue numbers will be given to the parents and married children, as determined by their respective household status. Depending on the shortlisting results, applicants can decide whether to book under MGPS or as a public applicant.
