Then you have to go for the recently announced Asus GT-AXE16000 (not yet available for sale). Or you have to go for Netgear Orbi RBK963.

Take note 6GHz band is not yet licensed to use for WiFi in Singapore as of now, so you do not see the Zenwifi ET8 and Zenwifi ET12 Pro in Singapore market yet.

And indeed triband Wifi 6E mesh router offers almost no benefits versus triband Wifi 6 mesh router as of now. So Quad-band may be the real upgrade when 6HHz band is approved. But then it is very expensive.

And then maybe Wifi 7 is out then killing Wifi 6E totally in Singapore.
ET12 is now available from Asus store in both Lazada and Shopee. I bought mine. Same price as XT12.

Right now ZenWiFi Pro ET12 and ZenWiFI Pro XT12 have rather high price, so it may not be worth upgrading yet if the user has already a pair of ZenWiFi XT8. On the other hand, if one wants to buy one more node with higher CPU power, ZenWiFI XT12 may be a good option.

Zenwifi Pro XT12 + a pair of XT8 will be quite a good combination, especially for those who need to use wireless backhaul. Asus GT-AX11000 Pro (which comes free with Singtel 10Gbps plan now) is another good choice as the main router to go with a pair of XT8.

My HK colleague is using a very old Netgear N300 router (JWNR2000T). So, I decided to help him by giving him a Asus XT8 unit. He is in his 60s and a total computer noob. What I did was to set up the router for him by pairing it with my home modem (Huawei HG8240H5) and creating his home's SSID and password. I then passed the XT8 to him with instructions to simply replace his Netgear with XT8. His modem in HK is Huawei HG863 under Netvigator fibre broadband. I expect it to be a plug and play operation.

However, he reported that the XT8 Led is Red. My question: Can a router that is set up with one modem be able to be used with another modem? If no, it means I must guide him on how to set up the XT8 with his modem using the Asus Router App.

Most likely a Netvigator/PCCW supplied modem.

If i remember right port 1 is configured for broadband and port 2 is for NowTV (if he subscribed to that). Port 3 & 4 have nothing.

Yes, he used port 1 to connect to WAN of XT8 which I had preset for him. I guess I will have to guide him over whatsapp on 1) reset the XT8 and 2) set up his home wifi network using Asus Router App. I will have to explain slowly to him and guide him step by step.

did he wait at least 15 mins after turning off the old router (and ONT/ONR), before using the new one?
Otherwise ISP will "remember" the router and disallow another one to be used.

i.e. M1 will bind your router MAC address... same thing for Singtel also
usually I will turn off everything and wait for 30 mins just in case

The modem may have cached the MAC address of the old router.

A power cycle should solve the problem, if not then call 1000 for customer service, tell them that you have changed to a new router and can no longer connect. The CS should be able to help release the MAC address.

I asked him to turn off everything and wait for 3 mins. Maybe should turn off and wait for longer time like 15 - 20 mins. Ok, will ask him to try that tonight.

Did he unplug power cable too?
Usually power cycle should unplug power cable as well.
