Hi all, I just bought the rt-ac68u. My setup is StarHub max infinity ont to router to PC. However, I am having trouble getting past the setup page of the router. It just could not detect the internet settings. Am I missing something? I am using a MacBook Pro to configure it.

Much thanks in advance

erm, one common possibility is that you might have connected the cables wrongly, or that the cable is not connected properly..

try verifying the connection of cables first..

Hi hi, thanks for the reply. But it's still unable to detect the internet setting. I have changed the cables.

Teaser :D

ASUS EA-AC87 4x4 WiFi MU-MIMO adapter

A few interesting bits came out of Asus's DIY guy 48 minutes long review:

1) MU-MIMO is not enabled in the firmware yet, and will be in a future firmware release
2) The USB ports on the RT-AC87 are high-power. The USB3 port for instance can provide up to 1700 mA, which should make it unnecessary to use a Y-shaped cable with portable HDDs (so, the fact the two ports are way apart won't be an issue)
3) He unveiled the EA-AC87, which will be MU-MIMO 4x4, and even have 5 Ethernet ports on it.

Back to using DD-WRT for good now. After reading Merlin cutting back on development time on his firmware I went to check up on DDWRT. They finally got a kernel-level CTF module so the router can be pushed beyond 300mbps.

Always preferred DD-WRT. Their firmware allows you to on-the-fly edit important settings like conf and jffs without rebooting, plus it has more settings to tinker with than Merlin. Now can use this router on my 500mbps connection lol.

Maylyn, thanks so much all the past year for the updates! I guess many folks here gonna go over to AC87u liao... Heh I guess I'll stick around with the now trusty AC68u (it used to be problematic) for now, owing to budget concerns. Haha

Saw some of your posts on the dd-wrt forum.
Which build are you using now?
I was playing with 24345M, STD OLDD, and the 5GHz LED light is still not working.

Using the latest Kong 24800. LED still doesn't work but that is inconsequential to me. Still prefer the feature set of ddwrt compared to other firmwares.

Thanks.
Does the CTF actually work on your 500Mbps connection?
Are you seeing the self-reboot problems which some folks have reported?

First official ASUS RT-AC87U firmware replacing 1779/2044 firmware

ASUS RT-AC87U Firmware version 3.0.0.4.376.2061

Fixes:

1. Upgraded the latest driver for Quantenna 802.11ac processor.
2. Enhanced media bridge mode performance.
3. Enhanced performance when Intel Centrino 5300 connecting to RT-AC87U.
4. Fixed beamforming GUI bug and enabled beamforming by default.
5. Fixed AiCloud UI issue when generating file share link.

Note: The 3.0.0.4.376.1779 and 3.0.0.4.376.2044 had incompatible issue in some specific environment, so both version were removed. Please upgrade to 3.0.0.4.376.2061

More enhancements are in the works.

If one is wondering? I'm beyond this :D :)

You're welcome.

Do pop by the ASUS PCDIY to understand more about the new ASUS RT-AC87U, perhaps you might have a change of mind :)

Both the ASUS RT-AC68U and ASUS RT-AC87U have unified firmware development.

Well, ASUS RT-AC87U haven't really started shipping out as yet, not like anyone on the streets have it now and in need to update the firmware besides a selected few. It's coming out very soon tho :)

Rest assured, the ASUS support site will have the downloadable firmware for it when the ASUS RT-AC87U ships.

Yup the CTF works as intended. Only TCP and UDP packets are accelerated though. Haven't seen any reboots on my syslog besides my one manual reboot I did cos I thought something was not working.
