Anybody has any clue on why my wireless download speed is lower than my upload speed, by quite a significant amount.

My ac68u that has this issue is running on repeater mode.

Any recommended configuration or setting to correct this?

Thanks
Cheers!
:)

I've got the AC-68U, and I am having trouble making use of all the 4 gigabit ports behind it. I connected the AC-68U directly to my ONT. I can only connect to the Internet when I select either "Singtel-Mio" or "Singtel Others" on my AC-68U. If I select "Others", the router will be unable to go online.
The problem with selecting "Singtel Others" is that the last port (LAN 4), will be reserved for IPTV and I cannot use it for Internet. Anyone got a way to allow all the 4 ports on the AC-68U to work?
Thanks in advance!

RMerlin 3.0.0.4.376.45 is out. :)

Howdy folks,

Initially I wanted to wait for newer Asus source code before pushing out a new release, however in light of the recent OpenSSL security fixes I decided to publish a 376.45 release with the current Github content for all supported models.

This is essentially a security + bugfix release with little frills, so I'll just dump the changelog here:

376.45 (17-Aug-2014)
  • NEW: Compiled vsftpd with SSL support (must be manually configured if you intend to use it)
  • NEW: Report FA state (Level 2 CTF) on Sysinfo page.
  • CHANGED: Updated dropbear to 2014.65.
  • CHANGED: Updated openssl to 1.0.0n (numerous security fixes)
  • CHANGED: Updated lzo to 2.08
  • CHANGED: Reworked VPN Server pages to be more intuitive
  • FIXED: Garbled client dropdown selector on DNSFilter page
  • FIXED: The Comcast neighbour solicitation block wasn't enabled anymore (regression in 376.44) (Patch by Sinshiva)
  • FIXED: 5 GHz N+AC mode was incorrectly setting router to N-only mode (Asus bug, fix backported from 2381, additional fix by me for AC66)
  • FIXED: PControl page failing to display on French and Italian locales (Asus bug)
  • FIXED: IPv6 can occasionally fail to work properly when using a PPPoE WAN interface (patch by pinwing)

Downloads are here.

Some information regarding future ASUS firmwares on TX power.

It's will be the same for all networking manufacturers across the board.

See this link for the two documents that relate to this. The second document shows the type of things the FCC asks out of manufacturers now before granting certification.

https://apps.fcc.gov/oetcf/kdb/forms/FTSSearchResultPage.cfm?id=39498&switch=P

One interesting bit there that relates to the use of channel 12 and 13, as an example:

So giving end user manual control of it is definitely out of the question for future products. No idea how strict they are about existing, already certified products, but in any case get used to not being able anymore to control this, as it will be the norm from now on.

Dear everyone,

We did not forget our previous flagship model: RT-AC68U.

Currently i am testing new beta firmware and it's so amazing with new feature added in.

Not going leak any new feature at this moment.

Stay tune for upcoming firmware update!

Best regard,
JK

With ASUS transitioning to AC router, whats the lifecycle support planned for the N routers before they are declared EOL with no more firmware updates?

Hi all,

Recently, I subscribed to MR wth asus ac68u. Periodically, I experienced problems with internet connection. I can still access the router admin page and I need to reboot the router to get internet connection again. I'm using the latest firmware (3.0.0.4.376.1663). Does anyone experience the same problem and how to solve the issue? When the router do not have internet connection, I'm still able to surf net using ONT direct to PC.

Hey guys, got my hands on this piece of beast. Just a question on how I should pair it up with? The distance from the router to my PC is about 2 solid wall distance should I pair it with

1) AC66U router and run a media bridge

or

2) PCE-AC68 wireless card

Which would be a more advisable solution since both of their prices don't differ a lot
