Tested again and it seems alright except I still have the problem where the 330NUL is pluged in but the Asus app does not seems to detect it. Have to unplug and plug in again. Otherwise it seems fine.

Any recommended place to buy at cheaper than $59 RRP?

Not too sure of the number of places selling.
I went to SLS last Sunday and could not find a shop selling it.
Only found in Challenger Funan on monday selling at $59.
Also saw in PC Show Brochures, selling at $59 + free Trend Micro Internet Security.

Try update the firmware to ver. 3.0.0.24, and new version of PC uty update itself as well. these might solve ur problems. And one more, the little bugs you encountered is just its slow respond, sometimes it responds slow. I hope the new firmware helps.

Write to ASUS technical support if u find any bugs, "REAL technical support engineers" help, don't call their support call center, they just transfer your call to China, they can't help any with your problem, they just record it and transfer your problems or questions to technical support dept. in Taiwan again, it wastes your time.

There are many "same looks" products in the market, such as Edimax 6258nl, Planex(PCI) MZK-Ue150N, I have them all, the difference between them is the firmware, such as the interface of control panels, personally, I like ASUS version better. And if you see Sapido BRE71N, don't ever think about it, it sucks, its high heat slow down your connection and settings control, it hangs very soon.

Just being to Funan Challenger...

The guy at the Asus display has no idea there is such a router.... and point me to the area where the other brands like Huawei, Edimax, etc are... :s11:

Can't find it at the other shops too.... one shop has it but it is out of stock.

So, anybody know of other places to get this pocket router?

From what i know last week Funan Challenger, or rather whole of challenger is out of stock. and the guy at Asus display confirm don't know cause you asked the wrong department plus he directed you to the correct place anyway. You should go Zone 7 of Funan Challenger to ask.

I must be lucky. Knew about this product and saw it at Challenger JP yesterday. Bought one. Did not know that it is out of stock for most outlet.

I liked the functionality of this router especially the wireless to wireless connection. However it is a pity that we need initiate installation before using it. My problem is that my company's laptop has restricted user access. I am not able to install the utility program to my company's laptop. When I go for overseas trip and encounter problem, I will be left hanging in mid air.

Initial configuration/setup is required.

For Windows, installation of the utility/drivers are needed, the utility/drivers are in the pocket router.

For Mac, installation is not required.

From the menu it's not required at all. You can use the default Wi-Fi name/pw to log in.

Yes, please refer to my overview @ page 1 of this thread on the various ways how the ASUS WL-330NUL can be used.

Hi Maylyn and others,

I have bought this unit and are trying to update the firmware..

When I went to download site, I got confused..

The site asked for what OS I'm using.... I have Win7 and WinXP on different devices... so does it matter which OS I select?

Secondly I noticed that there are a couple of similar firmwares listed...e.g. ASUS WL-330NUL Firmware Version 3.0.0.23 and GPL of ASUS WL-330NUL for firmware 3.0.0.23..

Need some advise on which is the correct files to download and must it be in sequence (ascending?)? Or can just download the latest?

Please advise.. Thanks!!

I think OS doesn’t matters, So long u use the correspondent OS to install the update

For Firmware ver, I just take the latest and seems OK (?)

Can this be used as a wireless-to-wireless repeater?

NO but base on the user menu, it can serve your needs anyway.

Mode 3
Plug WL-330NUL to a power source

1. Connect to the WL-330NUL
private network name.
2. Enter the private network
password.
3. Use the WL-330NUL utility to
select a Wi-Fi network (SSID) and
connect to the Internet.

OR

To access the Internet wirelessly:
1. Connect to the WL-330NUL private network
name.
2. Enter your private network password.
3. Go to asusnetwork.net.
4. Enter the supervisor code shown on the surface
of WL-330NUL.
5. Open the Wireless Setting page.
6. Select a Wi-Fi network (SSID) and connect to the Internet.
7. Launch the web browser and start surfing the Internet.
