Hi. Anyone could offer some insights on signing on as a Military Intelligent Expert under the MDES?

Is it true that a first class honours degree is required, because that is the information i had gathered after reading through some threads.

Is there a specific type of degree that is more favoured i,e engineering? Because I looked through their brochure, apparently it does not specify the type of degree.

Thanks!

You still want to be Senior Military Intelligent Expert when you read so much on treads that are not a credited sources but do not have common sense to make a simple judgement?

How many first class honours graduate from on campus overseas universities or local universities are in Singapore? Some more you think SAF still dare to limit a single major say Engineering? Do you think we have enough manpower (first class honours graduate) to supply for the position of Military Intelligent Expert? Do not forget that if they are first class honours graduate, why do they even want to sign on with SAF or as a Senior Military Intelligent Expert over other Public Sector positions?

Is there a reason why you are reading threads and not official sources?

The information from the official sources is insufficient, I have contacted them through their online form for more information and am still awaiting their reply. Therefore, i looking through the threads for more information.

From what I understand, under the MDES, you can be under the intelligence scheme, the engineer scheme and the medical scheme.

That is why i believe there exist some form of degree that they do prefer. For instance the MDES engineering for NAVY, the degree has to be engineering. The SAF MDES does not state that in their brochure nor their website. That is why I am questioning about this. I am not saying limiting the major, but what major they have preference for, for the military intelligence expert.

Obviously the sources are not troll posts but are genuine ones, but it may be limited to the experience of that person, thats why i am asking for more information whether any other person have such an experience.

Wouldn't doubt the insufficiency, but would you doubt the accuracy of the threads?

How do you know they are not trolls but are genuine?

Also what makes you think a genuine post cannot be inaccurate?

That is where discerning comes in. I believe even in working life or interactions with friends, there is a certain degree of inaccuracy in the messages they convey to you. You can't stop them from giving/ posting inaccurate information but the onus is on you to form a sound judgement.

Engineering degree for Engineer position & Nursing qualification for Nurse position. But is there any qualification for Intelligence? The answer is no which is the reason why they do not state any field for their degree. You must know why rumor seem that SAF have preference for engineering degree because majorly of MDES position are Engineer. You are not suitable for intelligence position because you are lack of critical thinking skills to make sound judgement.

If I'm you, I rely on official sources for information and non official sources for opinions and experience.

Thanks for your input! For the engineer and medical MDES, they also didn't say what degree they require, for the SAF, but it can be implied. You can check out their web and brochures to ascertain that. But for intelligence it is not so clear cut. Are you nullifying whatever information you gained or read from the forum? Why are you so insistent that I am not suitable for the intelligence role? Shouldn't one amalgamate all the information before making a sound judgement?

hey there! Any degree is fine aside from medicine/dentistry/architecture. Call up the army recruitment centre and arrange for a 1 to 1 sharing session with one of the intel officer there. If would be best if u applied for the position first! Then again, they wouldn't be able to give you an in-depth information of the things that intel officers do because it's classified.

Sure it's a perspective, but do you know why I am stating that perspective?

Yes. You believe that the official sources are more accurate than the opinions by people in this forum.

However, I believe that the official sources won't tell you the full story.
They may say, Yes , we accept all degrees when you ask them If all degree types are accepted.
If you ask them if there is a particular type of degree that is favoured. Will they really tell you the truth?
If you ask them about career progression, will they paint a beautiful story ? or will they give you the real story?

That is where you have to match what the official source tells you with whatever the experiences applicants had went through.

You know, its just like buying a product, you can read all the wonderful stuff about the product this company is selling via their web or their ad. Are you saying that you won't read reviews before purchasing a product?

As an intelligence officer, your job is to determine if information provided by your sources like recce trooper is not a misleading information provided by enemies. You don't seem to have the skills for it.
