Yes. You believe that the official sources are more accurate than the opinions by people in this forum.

However, I believe that the official sources won't tell you the full story.
They may say, Yes , we accept all degrees when you ask them If all degree types are accepted.
If you ask them if there is a particular type of degree that is favoured. Will they really tell you the truth?
If you ask them about career progression, will they paint a beautiful story ? or will they give you the real story?

That is where you have to match what the official source tells you with whatever the experiences applicants had went through.

You know, its just like buying a product, you can read all the wonderful stuff about the product this company is selling via their web or their ad. Are you saying that you won't read reviews before purchasing a product?
Well, how do you know the information i received are misleading?

It's not a belief. That being said, it doesn't mean official sources are "more accurate", official sources can sometime get things wrong.

What I am trying to tell/ask you is, who is able to provide a more accurate and more updated information about what type of job seekers an employer is looking for than an employer themselves? Someone in the forum? Really?

They wouldn't tell you the full story, sure, I'm not doubting that. Sure political correctness requires them to say they accept all degrees when asked, but that is not always the case, you look at Medical and Law degree, there's a fixed list of degrees from universities that are recognised. But are you really trying to tell me that someone is this forum is about to tell you what particular type of degree they favour? If that's the case, can you give me a logical explanation as to how those people in the forum know? Did they process the applications on behalf of the employer that's why they know? If that is really they case, then I am telling you they are in breached of confidentiality clause.

Withholding information is not the same as not telling the truth fyi.

If you ask about career progression, sure they will paint a beautiful story based on a certain assumption. But that is a "fact".

What people say in the forum is based on experiences, I am not saying you shouldn't be reading that.

I think you have a misconstrued idea between what official source tells you and what people experiences are.

Sure, it's like buying a product and reading the reviews.

I think you are very mistaken.

Official source tells you the "FACT" provided that they are accurate (i.e. they don't make a mistake). It's like the specifications of the product. Whereas the experiences of the buyer is the review, telling you whether whether the specifications are as good as it sounds.

You must know the difference between theory and practical.

"Is it true that a first class honours degree is required, because that is the information i had gathered after reading through some threads."

In theory, they may state that you only need a 2nd class upper, but in practical, they may actually only take in 1st class honours. That's very possible. But i am unsure how the someone in the forum can claim to know the requirement of a 1st class? Personal experience? maybe. Hear say may be? but is it a fact? i doubt he will know. Does he/she have evidence (statistic) to back up the claim? I doubt.

If you really want to be in the intelligence corp, sure a certain level of scepticism is required. but if you don't use some common sense to differentiate between what you should get from official source and what you should get from people opinion, then maybe it is not a suitable career of choice for you.

And one thing for sure, if you continue to be so combative, i don't think you should consider being in the military.
