So... Finally gave in and decided to get a mechanical KB, red or brown switch (need to try though). Will it be better to get from taobao, or wait for black friday, or just hoot now? Also, were there sales for mech KB on Black Friday in the past?

If you not in the market for cherry switches then go ahead and grab one from taobao. However, if you are into cherry switches only, then i would recommend you to wait for black friday @ amazon instead as taobao has a higher risk of getting a fake cherry switch board unless you go for their official reseller on eg. Tmall, which end up also same pricing as amazon.

whre to buy cheap mech keyboard locally?

i see razer logitech all $100+

gotch below 100 bucks?

Check out carousel for good deals orh. Sometimes you will see kb hobbyist/enthusiast reselling KBs that they refurb-ed/custom-mod themselves or spoiled mechs that are repairable. Personally i snagged a spoiled corsair K70 which i managed to repair. 1 month in everything smooth smooth

cherry copies like kailh or gateron or outemu also ok, unless someone makes the argument that it is significantly much worse than cherry :s13: btw, those cherry copies are compatible with cherry keycaps right? as long as they have the + stem

I never said anything about cherry > gaterons or outemu. I only say if one wants to get specifically cherry boards can try Amazon black Friday instead coz some ppl like me prefers how the cherry blues sounds over other brand's blue switches. Yep, as long as got same stem means compatible.

Anyone here living around bishan/AMK area have a 6.25u kb stab to let go, or swap for a 7u?

Bought the wrong set off taobao by accident :(

No longer eyeing on any cherry mx switches(or any other clones).. always experience chattering after couple of years use, sometimes even less. I have been soldering new cherry mxes for the last 8 years and i've been thinking on moving on. Currently looking at flaretech optical switches, anyone else looking forward to it? So far, a quick google only shows the Wooting One and the Gigabyte Aorus k9 that has it. I believe the Tesoro excalibur se spectrum uses gateron optical switches so that might be something I would be willing to try as well.
