If a patient is found to be diagnosed with fibroid and endometriotic cysts, what are the exclusion in the medi shield?
Wait for MediShield Life. It will cover pre-existing condition.
Aft medishield life kicks in by sep 2015, ur condition will b covered, except that your premium may be 10 to 30% higher than healthy people without any exclusions previously.
PS: It does nt fully cover ur medical bill since co-insurance and deductible still apply and subjected to higher claimable upper limit but not full unlimited cover compared to old medishield.
In short, u still need private shield plan with riders in order to cover it 100% but the premium is freaking ex.
need declare i have fibroid and the insurance company excluded me from disorder of uterus. I find it very unfair. fibroid is common among ladies and and it does not cause illness and why is the insurance excluding me on this.
what can i do here to appeal?

what about eldershield? if fully paid by medisave is it ok
First thing you can do is to apply with the other insurers and see if any of them is able to come back with a favourable reply.
If not, you may submit an appeal maybe a year or 2 down the road when you revisit the doctor for a scan and the fibroid is gone
fibriod is still there and according to the specialist it is so small that fibroid is something woman will have. i feel lost that the insurance exclude me from the.
Yes, I do understand your concern regarding that. I have a client who faced the same issue. The other option will be to apply under moratorium underwriting with Aviva. But this option is only open if you have not been declined cover by other insurers, and there is also a 5 year waiting period where one did not seek any medical advice whatsoever for that condition.
I will still suggest that you try to get yourself covered asap. Not having coverage on one part of the body is better than not having coverage on the whole body.
From my agent, can get doctor's letter to verify your condition then submit to insurer for a review. whether they accept or not is another matter. good luck
If any consolation, if the condition really does not pose a health issue, it being excluded wld not be that much of a concern wld it ? ... Not as good as being covered 100% but try to accept it & not get too fussed over it.
i am fully covered by the private basic medishield plan but was excluded for the rider for the condition as i only added the rider yr ago. May I know in the end what did you advise your client and what was the outcome? I wish to be 100% covered and not just a portion.
Client chose to go with moratorium underwriting with Aviva as she did not want to be excluded because of the fibroid. However, there is still a 5 year waiting period which she has to fulfill in order to be covered fully.
In your case, since you have some form of coverage from your main plan for the uterus, I would suggest that you think it over carefully before switching plans.
