yes. but oppo instead harp on full withdrawal. it puts people off.

if they argue on withdrawal age not rising.. then it is a valid point.
Don't forget the min sum needs to increase inline with inflation. Unless one can get a reasonable income and working till then.

from what i feel
the ppl who attended the rally at most 50k and these are the 50k who bothered to attend but cannot vote for.. they probably attended a few days of WP
the other hand are online viewers, i noticed that theres always less than 500 viewers on the PAP rally channels. Wonder if there are ppl who voted without even watching rallies?

they see what msm says n newspapers.

the key problem with opposition proposal is all about spending. pap right on this.

they need to have ideas on coffers fir their spending

Life goes on for most. Taking the train today, drive on the road today, have a meal today is not much of a different from yesterday.

There are only that few who really sit down and think.

the truth is we have aging population

1) i am sure some of you have iresponsible sliblings who will not hestitate to spend the cpf money of their parents on business idea that will end up losing money.
then the burden falls on the responsible u who have to shoulder a extra burden becoz ur parents have no choice becoz they love their kids

2) i think if oppo shift the argument toward
resisting the need for rising withdrawal age and talk about how people at age 50 being retrenched could not tap on their cpf while unable to find a job.. this is a much more valid agrument on why withdrawal age cannot be raised.

Based on how much was lost on failed investments, the amount should be able to sustain or at least subsidize the healthcare costs of the needy for a substantial period of time.

From what i have heard in the rally speech, it seems medisave is an account for very specific payments. Eg. the old man who had a $5000 or so bill but is unable to settle it at a hospital using his medisave. Man was in his 80s. why?

It's not like we are collecting very little taxes. Taxes everywhere and extras on top of it. Petrol tax, alcohol tax, cigarette tax, road tax, erp, COE, IRAS, etc. Its where the money is being spent.

Millions on foreign student's scholarship at Universities where our very own Singaporeans doesn't get a place let alone subsidies? Then telling us its ok not to be a graduate but has a payscale just for it?

There are just too many wrongs in our system, and yet the majority voted otherwise. They turned a blind eye to injustice, endorsed unequal treatment between citizens, and ridiculed the importance of more check and balances of an extremely dominant party.

That's what you presume. Don't you sense some disappointment?

Why fight for losing cause?

i did not presume. it's written explicitly clear in your lines of advice.

not all opposes becos of their status in economic or financial standings. there are those who simply disagree with the direction the pap govt is moving towards. it's the ideologies differences but for snobbish ppl like you will only think and presume these 30% are all behkan individuals...

u r right. i fully agree. but my politicall savvy friends say they cant vote for people who doesnt think of the country coffers and vote for populist ideas. this also will create an impression that we wanted a populist opposition which is not what they wanted. they want a responsible opposition who have thought about the difficulty of government to generate income in a country without resources.

Do you mind to read that statement again before you start firing.

Enrich yourself more. We are fighting a lost cause.

THe opposition can only propose ideas based on info available. Doesn't help that a lot of figures such as our reserves amount etc are intentionally kept non transparent. All ideas suggested are just proposals that can be amended when they have the numbers to form a new government.

Bankrupt the country? The chances are more likely that we will be "bankrupt" by the rising costs.

Anyway, the majority has spoken. I am the ignorant one.

All countries have to invest but she needs to balance social cost and investment.

As I have mentioned in my other post, the opposition lacked the experience in running. Even the town council experienced problems, let alone perfect proposals for the country. We need more of them in parliament to learn. Too bad your savvy friends lack the empathy to see from the side of the opposition.

i understand the anger. i completely agrees.

but i take it from a positive view.

if the oppostion odds are stack against them.. it takes really a very good team to become a credible opposition

the issue i raised is the most important concern.

they didnt want to fall into a populist trap whereby government appeals to voters on how much they can spend without a serious consideration on how it will impact the country coffers.

thus i take it that as long as opposition puts in more effort on this income revenues aspect.. we will see a very credible alternative party.

Again, until the full figures are released and co operation from the ministries are available, it is impossible for the opposition to have perfect proposals. It is already an uneven playing field..

Wanna earn without taxing? So if and when 10% GST come what's that? Is that earning without taxing? If they dun wanna see policies that spend too much, then why does that current GST even exist? On one hand, dun wanna hurt coffers on the other hand wanna earn. Earn from what? Air?

And if investment is gonna be the way, it's also spending the coffer in a indirect way. Considering we lost billions in investment i think we have paid for NTH compared to policies spending where the citizen will at least get sth back.

well. one way is to consider investments.

i propose
1) separating glc returns from temasek overall returns.

this will ensure how temasek performs without the hugh returns from glc companies like smrt.

then we can really assess temasek performance from their overseas investments.

yes i agree with u. then opposition should consider making it known to voters how tough it is to draft policies without all information at hand and force a change.
