Yup I'll try to test the SSD enclosures (w UASP) in another laptop later once I can get a hand on it.
UASP is supported in Windows 8 natively so I supposedly it's also supported in Windows 8.1
Windows*8: What's new for USB (Windows Drivers)
And if those SSD enclosure manufacturers claimed their enclosure supports UASP I don't see why the performance cannot hit about 450MB/s
I think there's a compatibility issue in the UASP implementation
Yup, UAS is supported in Win8.x natively but probably through a mini-filter driver. This reduces performance somewhat. Also since it's a serial bus, there're 2 overhead in the data packet, USB + SCSI which tend to reduce bandwidth. But by how much? That's the question. Can it reduce bandwidth to 250MB/s, maybe.
In data communication where you want maximum bandwidth, we always try to reduce overhead, that's why at home, I use a MTU of 9000 bytes instead of the default 1024 for my LAN & WiFi connections.

you guys order from ms online store or bought frm retailers like challenger/harvey norman ?
