My SO Surface's battery can't be charged when plugged in & powered (out of warranty as bought in 2017).

They want to charge S$700 for a replacement !!!

Out of warranty repair charges are never reasonable.

SLS vendors don’t touch Surfaces.
They are afraid of breaking the digitizer - removal required for accessing the internals. There’s very thick adhesive.

I tried doing it on my surface pro before. But mine had a broken one in the first place. It was hard but still doable. You do require torx bits to open it up

Thanks for reply.
I still searching for possible way to replace battery only.

Hi,
I call them yesterday. Was quoted $150 to replace battery.

Operator mentioned to send location details to me, but so far I have not receive.

This morning found that my Surface didn't charge up overnight. So can not bring to work.

Situation getting worst.

150 is cheap. I read some bad reviews, pls do ur homework first before proceeding.

I also found another 3rd party for 300 including labour. I also hesitate to proceed.

I checked with MS, they quoted 630 excluding tax, so abt 680 for unit replacement.

I still considering which to choose. My sp5 not so bad, still got 1.5hr on batt

Surface Pro 6

Does anyone here own Surface Pro 6? Can I check how long is the batt lifespan?

I notice most laptop can only last 3 or 4 hours while ipad/tablet can at least last a day.

a lot of reviews in youtube, typical usage will last 6-7hrs for my SP5, but that's when it is still new. I doubt much diff from SP6.

there are a lot of ultra-light laptop with this type of batt life. If u choose laptop with ARM processor, it will be more than 10hr. Of cos there're cons, eg it only supports 32bit software at the moment.

Got it. So it is the difference of processor in a laptop and tablet that causes the battery lifespan

Diff processor type uses diff voltage. Hence power consumption is diff. Of cos this is just one of the reasons. Screen size, resolution also play a part.

Hey guys, Anyone faced their keyboard not able to work on their surface pro? Im using a pro3 and all along it has been okay till recently the keyboard totally cannot work. Drivers are also missing. Did reset and reinstall whatever ****. followed all the different methods online also no use. Anyone had this problem and managed to resolve it?

Mine Pro 3 have the same issue. Scour whole SLS and found that only one is able to repair it.
Check with Digital Hospital, aka PC Dreams. Other repairers all do not know what they are doing.
True enough, they repaired my Surface, and it is now working fine for 2 weeks. Keeping my fingers crossed now.

Can check their link here: digitalhospital.com.sg/surface-pro-repair

Spoke to them, they mention, pro 3 and pro 4 have keyboard intermittent detection issue or no detection issue. Battery also problematic for both Surface. Pro 4 also have flickering screen issue. They mention they can repair all these common faults. Seems like Microsoft is producing problematic models.
