To begin with, there are less and less mgmt positions as u go higher.

Ever heard the excuse there are no estab above ?

2ndly, it depends on pne person ability.

3rd u want to be IC, there are cheaper alternatives.

If u are willing to buy cai png dor lunch, so do others

What’s holding TS back? Men should always aim higher .. in management position, others treat and see you differently. Your words bear weight. Things move faster for you. You get to earn more and possibly retire earlier.

U talking about very high up positions? Mid management jus kena sandwich only. Need to manage on top and manage below, kena pressure from both sides.

Which management position don’t have to answer to someone even higher? Even ceos need to answer to shareholders…I just mean to climb above most people . Top 10%. And most will treat you like god

Dont be manager, so many mid level managers retrenched first and also after few years technical skill will be lost and wont be good to anybody.

Stay on the ground, be technical and sharpen your skill set, can move to other places easily.

Thats coz the term "Engineer" been watered down and it doesnt have the same meaning as before.

We have folk in our office who Engineers , but its just a term used to give some ego boost I think.
So they are technicians but you call them engineers to make them feel good?

Dear all,

There are many earning 300k and above now, and they are young.

Confidence for the future. More good years ahead... Let us take Singapore forward together.
Thank you.

Back to back meetings, making stakeholders happy, managing expectations, cushioning damage, defending your own team strategically against other teams. All these feels painful and unnatural for me.

While at the same time, I don’t think I can be an engineer into my 50s or 60s. Maybe 40s still can.

Of course defend the team. If not they will leave and you kanna delay and 9696. Nowadays people can afford to take a break while your project cannot rest.
Your high salary is to tank issues when it comes.

They are not even technicians.

Each role have an engineer.

HR , Customer Service , Production Control, Sales along with other roles that would require some form of engineering

It is a bit weird but its also to help differentiate seniority I think

Earning $200–300K a year puts you in the top 5–8% of income earners in Singapore — like being ranked 8th or better in a class of 100.

Now think back to your school days. What was your usual class position? šŸ˜‚ Does reality matches your expectation?

Of course, grades don’t directly cause success, but statistically, they’re strongly correlated with it.

Humans survive longest when tested in unfamiliar environments.. once too comfortable , life will lose its meaning .. here we are talking about exponential growth in salary and earlier retirement
