Well, TA only speaks of the current picture until the next fundamental play comes into play

People always mistaken the use of TA for trying to find up and detect insider news leak but it's only partially true because it is only when a chart current TA speaks of a different story than what it's current fundamental story, then there possibly a insider leaks.

So sometime a trend is just playing out the current fundamental story until the next news come into play

So TA is not really about hindsight but rather telling you the current sentiment and that's why I always preach FA and TA must be used together lah

totally agree, but sorry can you remind me what's the purpose of doing TA then?

Got it from trading central... And think is Philip capital who wrote the chart... And they used rsi along with moving averages to say that the moving momentum is going up.

1-2months is just an arbitrary number. you can of course tweak the number to suit the respective timeframe. What's impt is to review the drawn charts which I think you got it and you agree.

you have a huge chunk of charts in your blog. perhaps can start from there? you don't have to post the probability of success here if you are not comfortable.
erm what do you define as a success?

hitting TP or if there's simply profit to take?
TP is just a figure, a goal for someone to aim for.... it may or may not happen leh... what's important is if the stock moves the right direction?

Thanks milo for the TA. I vested this yesterday, I thought the acquisition of F&N will boost the stock..

Anyway what is dojis showing indecision

Almost reaching all time high at 45c (resistance). Lots of dojis showing indecision. Support between 41.5 to 42.5.

Weekly shows a bearish divergence on MACD histogram.

This is very interesting and I'll be watching whether to take a position on this...

those candlestick dojis...... they signify indecision in the market.

probably the indecision was due to the uncertain outcome of the FNN bid.
Guess now we will see which direction it moves.... I favour the upside since i'm vested now :p

Well, if TA can forecast the future, nobody will be a pauper and there won't be any market anymore.

Imo, the correct and most common way of using TA to trade is to identify the trend, see the momentum and the buying/selling sentiment first, then decide what you want to do next.

Always remember the 2 rules
1) In a bullish market, there will be bearish stocks. In a bearish market, there will be bullish stocks.
2) in a bullish stock, you can make money too from shorting it, likewise in a bearish stock, you can make money by longing it too.

What matter most is still the entry/exit price and use TA to find your direction and exit/entry with your time horizon lah

well, let me quote you an example

last week, i was bearish on genting

a7R0T.png

yesterday with gentinghk bursting because of its ipo norway cruiseline good performance, there was a short term catalyst for gentingsp to move higher,

AWCaMQP.jpg

well there was a chance for genting sp to turn bullish and attempt to break the year high $1.49 but the bull failed.

this is today genting sp chart

6iJ0IgP.jpg

the bear resumes their attack on genting once the genting-hk story or catalyst died down.

well, i think above clearly show my points of the 2 rules
1) In a bullish market, there will be bearish stocks. In a bearish market, there will be bullish stocks.
2) in a bullish stock, you can make money too from shorting it, likewise in a bearish stock, you can make money by longing it too.

just my point of views.

there are many different potential trades you can execute in a chart, but it will always dependent on your risk appetite, your time horizon, your commission fee etc

find a trade that you think is worth it

Hi Milo hi sinkie!

any comments for sembmarine? seems like its going back up...

DJ Sembawang Drops Bid for Macmahon's Construction Unit - 13/1/2013
DJ MARKET TALK: Deutsche Bank Tips Keppel Over SembMarine - 9/1/2013
0903 GMT [Dow Jones] STOCK CALL: While both Keppel (BN4.SG) and SembMarine (S51.SG) are well positioned to benefit from increased industry spending and replacement opportunities, Deutsche Bank prefers Keppel. "SembMarine is currently at a build-up stage for two large new yards, which we believe could involve more risks as operations begin." SembMarine's 2013-15 margins may be pressured as drillship contracts are executed in Brazil as it is new to drillship construction and the yard, currently under construction, may face potential cost overruns, skilled labor shortages, construction delays and other teething issues typical for new Brazilian facilities, it says. It expects SembMarine's new Singapore yard may face some labor issues as the government controls foreign labor, while the departure of the long-time senior marketing personnel and the recent jack-up-rig mishap are also areas to monitor. Keppel's strategy of being near markets and customers is paying off, with its Brazil yard one of the country's "most experienced" facilities, putting it in a good position to execute, it says. It sets Keppel's target at S$13.50 and Sembcorp's (U96.SG) at S$6.35, rating both Buy. It rates SembMarine at Hold with S$4.90 target. (leslie.shaffer@dowjones.com)
