I have a wisdom tooth that needs to be extracted. I've been keeping it for years, refusing to extract it. Partly cos I remember how Iong I bled for when i had one extracted when i was young. Even woke up in the next morning with blood soaked cotton wool.
But will probably get it done next year. Can't leave it forever... cos if ever I'm in a position of not being able to care for myself, no-one can keep it clean for me.

I just did a 1st molar extraction this afternoon . Its been 5 hours n i am very hungry, so i had swiss roll, banana, bread ( all cut into bite size so that it will just melts in your mouth n swallow it, no need to chew) n porridge.
Didnt taste of blood.
Hope it is not bleeding anymore, but the pain is coming in.

dentist did suggest that i can do root canal treatment first, if the tooth is not suitable for rct, then do extraction, problem is my gum below the tooth is having an infection, every night i hv to squeeze out pus n blood. So i opted for immediate extraction.
I think root canal involves removing the pus.

the dental clinic could only give me the soonest date on 9/1/25.. so i asked to be put on the standby list, luckily a slot was available today so i could get it done.
I couldn’t sleep bcoz of the pain too, n every morning i had to get up to take painkillers.

Someone just shared that he did rc, crowning , etc, all the works, within 6 months the pain came back.. now he is still suffering despite spending so much money. Advised me against wasting my money.
Lucky mine last molar one year already still good.. remember the first few weeks might have some pains once in a while though..

Will be gg to replace my front tooth crown with a new one after almost 20 years.. hope it can last another 20 years 😂 very costly.. spend almost $1400 with multiple visits etc for just this tooth.. and this is with subsidy.. think almost as high as private already.. wonder why go thru the hassle.. like waste time..

Did U remove the molar on the other side?
If the molar you remove is at the bottom side, the top mating molar would sink down every day until it interferes with the bottom teeth.
You will need to remove the top one eventually.
Hopefully the one U removed is top molar.
Then less issue.

At ndc lor.. it's been 5 month since started with retreatment of root canal.. long process.. finally ending soon..
How did you manage to go there and get a subsidy too?
I had root canal done there...by one of the top dentists there. Several years ago. Iirc 3 visits, total cost $3k+. No subsidy.
Did the capping at dentist near my flat. Another 4 figures. Can't remember how many Ks. Did a gold one.

Are dentists at a hospital dental clinic on par with the dentists at the National Dental Centre?

For front tooth, though its costly n long process, think no choice, have to save n keep it for aesthetic reasons…

but for molar, at the back of the mouth, not visible to the public, think extraction is a better choice for older folks.. only downside is when eating n chewing food, and the last standalone molar has no other tooth to lean on, over time will be slanted.
