recently i went to hk 1st may. I changed money at the holland v money changer at the magazine stall at the entrace of HV. got a rate of 6.18 for 2k sgd changed.

In hkg, not enuff so changed 500sgd @ 6 hkd. can bargain for better rate at causeway bay since so many money changers there.

if u dun want to carry so much cash, use credit card. most bank rates are like 6 hkd.

if you sign card in hk, the transfer rate is base on what? any other hidden charger? I sign the hotel with HK, the bank charge much higher that the convertion rate as that day signed. Called up the bank, was told it is from the HK side, hotel? I dun know too. so i think better so cash.

Not sure if this is mentioned, but in my past 2 visits to Hong Kong (the last one in March last year), I always go to this "Singapore Money Changer" inside Chungking Mansions along Nathan road near Tsim Tsa Tsui and find that their rates are almost the same when I changed in Chinatown in Singapore. Do not bother about the display monitors, just ask them directly.

Going there again in June...

the place is correct.. go to level 2.. there is alot of money changer.. take your time and compare.. best to go is before 6pm as some money changer close early..
