If you have been able to save up for your emergency fund thus far, do you need to spend as much as 75% of your new money on new expenses and entertainment? IMO the key is to live within your means, not increase your expenses as you have more money.

Noted, Actually I have decided on ~10% to still go emergency fund, ~40% to opportunity fund, will hope to get it up to 60%, save save save!!!!!!!!!!

Happiness is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow, the harder you try to grab it, the further it runs from you. Happy are those who seek not happiness for themselves but for those around them. Happiness then will come naturally to them through those whom they have brought happiness to. Such is the irony of life.

Not really true. That's just philosophy. Some things you need to try it for real before you realize it sounds better than it really is.

Many volunteers & social workers actually suffer with those they try to help. Because their abilities are limited & they feel frustrated when things do not get better. And many times it doesn't. Frequently it becomes an emotional drain & obligation but they soldier on.

Keep slim.

Eating less really saves a lot. See some of my buibui friends spend at least twice as much on food & need more meals & snacks per day.

sorry digress.
frustration is a form of love. happiness will come after this realisation.

Personally to me nope. The only good feature about it is that it auto tops up the card for you when your balance reaches a limit. But having said that, if you frequently use your ez link card, that means you should frequent the train stations as well. Why not just top up using the machine? And the auto top up function is chargeable, but not too sure how much is it.

ezlink can top up at local ATMs (except UOB :s13:)

AXS also can top up, SAM will need admin fee of $0.30. So, no point to use SAM unless emergency lah.

Thanks for the insight. Which begets my point, why pay admin fee for something that should not be chargeable at all? Why pay the price for convinence? Ha!

Yeah very true. In the past it's used to be free under GIRO deductions but overtime this have turned into $0.25 processing/admin fee instead.

Since there is ample ATMs around, there is no reason for use to stop and top up. Another possible manner is to top up a higher amount to reduce your frequency instead.

for me i am using the Citibank smrt card, it auto up, admin fee is $0.25 each top up, and i set it in such a way that each top up is $50... so far so good, save me alot of trouble. at most only top up 3 times per mth... $0.25 x 3 per mth = 0.75, not even enough to get a cup of kopi-o , so i think its worth it for the convenience u get.

Plus the queue at the top up machine can be quite long at times, and another feature is, if you ever lost the citibank smrt card, you can terminate the card, make it unusable and get back your value inside the card.

coz first of all, i don't like to que just to top up my card. I believe time is money and sometimes if i forget to top up. that's it. i need to pay ridiculous price to get on the bus.

Didn't like to remind or ask myself how much my ezlink left

Yeah, I'm using the POSB Everyday Card as my main EZ-Link card. It allows auto-topups even after accounting for the admin fee.

In addition, there are cash rebates for purchases at Watsons.

Sorry everyday card can auto top up you mean?

I just went to Watsons a few days back. A 500ml bottle of Clear Shampoo for Men is selling for $15++.
The same bottle (except with Thai wordings on it) is selling for $10++ at Pink Beauty/ Venus.

Compare the 3% cash rebate by using the card and a 33% discount by buying it from PB/ Venus. Huge difference.

I think all of us do withdraw $$$ from atm am I right? So why not just top up your ezlink card at the same time.

If I am not wrong, it doesn't cost a cent to top up to your ezlink card. NO admin charges.

Someone mentioned u can still get the $$ back if you lost ur Citibank ezlink-credit card. but our normal ezlink card can also get back the credit. We just have to remember the number in case our ezlink card gets lost.
